I dont even know what this means or says....why cant people write normal on twitter...

The King

Whoever tweeted him is referencing the shot on Berry. And Stevie responded with the classic your mother.

Why respond at all?

Because it's funny to people with a sense of humor.

The King
08-15-2012, 10:30 AM
It's not that funny. It's the equivalent of "thats what she said". I just wish this kid would focus more on football and less on being a character. He can joke around like this when he stops dropping game winning passes.

He sounds like a great guy in the community and he's obviously a fan favorite, but responding to hecklers on twitter just seems like a lame thing for a professional athlete to do.

OpIv37
08-15-2012, 10:31 AM
Because it's funny to people with a sense of humor.

Maybe people with a 6th grade sense of humor.

I'd give him the benefit of the doubt for responding if he said something creative or funny, but Bedard's right. Its just a long-winded way of saying "your mother."

And for the record, this horse **** is exactly why I hate Twitter.

The King
08-15-2012, 10:43 AM
I do. Immaturity has been a problem. And this is a continuation IMO. I want to see him become a leader on this team.

The King
08-15-2012, 10:50 AM
I think team leaders rise above this stupid crap. That's what I think.

DraftBoy
08-15-2012, 10:57 AM
I'm with King, there are certain things that should be beneath him at this point and no it's not funny, its a poor comeback to a poor insult in the first place.

Why respond at all?

I agree....

but it's that knee jerk reaction that many of us fall prey to or used to but have grown out of it do to lifes experiences. This is waht makes Twitter a horrible thing, people let emotions rule and then press send

SJ is a young man and when I was 24 I was very much like this

The King
08-15-2012, 10:58 AM
Im not a flashy guy. I criticized Johnson all year for his endzone bull****. I'm the type of guy who places the ball on the ground after a TD. I think that's the best way to show your opponent what's up. No big deal, I do this all the time.

The King

Fair enough, but he's paid to be a leader on this team now, especially with the WR's. This is the time to leave that stuff behind.

Oh nooooooos. Mario is not being a team leader!!!!!!

I mean, come on. He's gotta rise above this. Throwing a fireball at Tom Brady on Twitter? Pathetic! Do your talking on the field. Rah rah rah!

One of these things is not like the other.

The King
08-15-2012, 11:17 AM
I find these to be two different things. Williams isn't making your mother jokes at some heckler on Twitter. He used a cartoon to illustrate what he was paid to do.

I wouldnt have an issue if Stevie had a picture of him stealing from a Revis dressed as Batman.

DraftBoy
08-15-2012, 11:19 AM
You're right. Mario's is worse. He's attacking another player in our division. Stevie is just saying a Yo Momma joke to a fan. Im very disappointed in Mario. Not a team leader what so ever.

Yeah........

OpIv37
08-15-2012, 11:25 AM
I dunno, both seem pretty immature... I think Mario needs a pay cut and a maturity lesson.

Except that Mario doesn't have the history of maturity problems that Stevie has.

An isolated incident is different from a recurring pattern.

I agree but that doesn't change the fact that he is young and probably needs to stick his foot in his mouth a few times before he really learns the lesson..

Me too.... but that is not his M.O... He'll probably have to learn that lesson the old fashion way

However it does draw attention to himself and that makes for more inteviews, and name recognition for his rap career. Bottom line fact it is an effective way to market oneself no matter how much we both disagree with it

I'm with MBB and DB, Stevie has clearly had maturity issues thus far and it looks like it hasn't changed.

I think the lameness of his response shows just how little time and energy he put into it. Not a big deal.

If Stevie thinks like a man, he should talk and act like one. In my opinion he is acting like a brat here. Like it or not, he is ****ing professional, and nobody asked him to be one, he decided to, so why is a bad thing act like a ****ing mature and professional public man?

I'm not a professional or public person and I'm not responding to web/nt/cyber attack. See the diference?

Mexican people are the only ones authorized to speak like this, drink beer and do nothing while white people complain at work reading other white people complaining.

Spandex and Don Johnson were popular in the 80-90's, just because something was acceptable then doesn't mean it should always be.

It's time to cubr the side show and generate hype with the main attraction, that's the last I'm going to say on this issue.

The last buffalo fan
08-15-2012, 12:49 PM
Not at all.

He's a professional football player. Not ballerina. And the literal definition of "Professional" is "relating to, or characteristic of a profession". His profession is football. It has nothing to do with being mature or acting a certain way.

Lo siento Compadre, but you are just LiterateStylish, nobody to me. He is Steve J., a public person, a professional athlete, somebody that my sons and someone else sons love to imitate.

In the other hand, if he doesn't care at all, that may be a different story.

The thing with Stevie is that his immaturity has cost the team on the field. I care little about what players do off the field if they don't hurt their team. But Stevie has. And this is a sign that he still has some growing up to do, so it doesn't instill confidence that he won't hurt the team again.

Indeed - it's very much a racial thing. Black Americans get away with outrageous statements, yet moan when others parrot their very words. So sad.

Was Jimbo really a fan of the white girl? I know Marino was, but never heard Jim doing it. He went to The U, though, so it wouldn't surprise me. Not a big deal anyways though, coke didn't have the negative stigma in the 80's that it does now.
