The New York Jets have announced they have claimed C Matt O'Neal (Dolphins) off waivers from the Miami Dolphins. O'Neal originally began his career with the Atlanta Falcons in 2000. He participated in the Jets 2002 training camp and later spent a brief time on the Dolphins 2002 practice squad.

The New York Jets have announced they have signed free agent DE Salem Simon to a contract. Terms were not disclosed. Simon played in NFL Europe this past spring.

Updating previous reports, the Star-Ledger reports negotiations between the New York Jets and the agent for rookie DT Dewayne Robertson continue to move slowly, and there is a chance the first-round pick could be a training camp holdout, according to a person close to Robertson. The Jets are apparently waiting for the market to be set so Robertson, drafted fourth overall, can be paid according to the players selected around him. The club is keeping an eye on talks between the Dallas Cowboys and CB Terence Newman, taken fifth, and the Houston Texans and WR Andre Johnson, selected third.
