With just more than two weeks until training camp, the Dolphins still have eight players unsigned.

Seven of the team's nine draft picks, plus exclusive rights free agent defensive end Adewale Ogunleye, are without contracts. Ogunleye received a one-year tender of $375,000 and is expected to sign before training camp, which opens July 25.

''We have discussed a long-term contract, but that's not likely to happen at this time,'' Ogunleye's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, said Tuesday. ``In lieu of that, we have discussed a one-year deal. What we're currently hung up on now is incentives. . . . We're tying to reach a happy medium on an incentive package. Hopefully this is a deal that can get done in the next week or two.''...

Dolphins defensive end David Bowens underwent surgery Wednesday to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.

Bowens sustained the injury last week while changing a light bulb in his home.

The fifth-year veteran, who re-signed with the Dolphins as an unrestricted free agent this offseason, is expected to miss most of the season, with a mid-November return date considered a best-case scenario. Bowens was fortunate he tore only the ACL, with no cartilage or other damage....

Single-game tickets for all Miami Dolphins 2003 home games will go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 19 at Pro Player Stadium's box office.

The box office is located at Gate G.

Also on July 19 at Pro Player Stadium, a "Dol-Fan Day/Select-A-Seat" will be held....

The Dolphins waived linebacker Joshua Symonette on Thursday.
Symonette, 5-10 and 225 pounds, went to training camp with Miami in 2002, but did not make the roster. The club signed him again on January 28 and allocated to the NFL Europe League, where he played with the Berlin Thunder this past spring. In Berlin, Symonette started at outside linebacker and recorded 28 tackles....

The Miami Herald reports Miami Dolphins LB Eddie Moore is expected to receive a contract offer this week. "I don't foresee any problems with Eddie getting to camp and signed on time," said Derrick Spratley, Moore's agent.

Vic Carucci, of NFL.com, reports the arrival of Miami Dolphins QB Brian Griese gives the team a quarterback controversy and puts considerable pressure on incumbent QB Jay Fiedler. However, based on what took place during off-season workouts, Griese's familiarity with the Dolphins' offense might not come fast enough for him to give the kind of eye-popping performance necessary to unseat Fiedler as the starter by the end of the preseason.

DAVIE -- Two weeks before training camp, the Dolphins have seven draft picks and defensive end Adewale Ogunleye to sign.

Senior Vice President Rick Spielman said the team put out proposals to picks Thursday and talks will begin next week. Spielman is confident the rookies will be signed, "but this is something that always comes down until right before camp."

Since the rookie pool did not increase greatly from 2002, Spielman said some draft picks will have to accept four-year deals, which has not been the norm. Agents prefer to sign clients to three-year contracts in order to get them closer to free agency. To make up the monetary difference, the Dolphins are willing to put escalators into the deals, which they did for tight end Donald Lee, a fifth-round pick. But sixth-round pick Corey Jenkins received a standard three-year deal....
