Jets bench Hunter; Howard to start at RT

Rex Ryan announced Thursday that the veteran right tackle was benched and replaced by Austin Howard as the starter for the team's exhibition game against the Carolina Panthers. Hunter, who struggled last year and in the first two games of the preseason, will be used as the sixth offensive lineman - or as a blocking tight end, a role he performed well in during previous seasons.

I smell a feeding frenzy come week 1, like Piranha eating inside the future carcass.

Idiotic. Never announce your starting team before you have to per league rules.

Mario is going to be seeing a ton of double teams week one.

Most likely, which will leave Dareus, Kyle & Anderson one on one. I like those odds.

If the Jets use any 7 step drops and don't run 40 times against us, they'll deserve the loss.

Yeah, it's not like they are suddenly going to turn into the Patriots or Saints. Gotta stop the run before getting to the QB becomes relevant.

It's nice to see the Jets having o-line issues of their own, though.

A bad offensive line situation against the Rock Wall? Oh it can't come soon enough...

                    This.

If the Bills can get a lead early, we will see what the defensive line can do. If it's a close game, and the jets can run the ball/ use 3 step drops, I doubt we wind up with more than a sack or two in the entire game.

So which set of offensive tackles would Buffalo fans rather have? Cordy Glenn and Erik Pears/ Chris Hairston or D'Brickashaw Ferguson and Austin Howard?
I've made up my mind. Don't confuse me with the facts.

I'm the most reasonable poster here. If you don't agree, I'll be forced to have a hissy fit.

Well, as you said key will be getting the lead. If the Bills have a lead, there is no way the Jets can hope to catch up running the ball with the RB's they have. Green is not going to rip off 30 yds a play. I will be fine with a couple sacks, I want to see turnovers myself. Putting pressure on the QB is the best way to force a turnover.

Good move by the Jets. Hunter is horrible. Why they gave him a new contract with guaranteed money in the first place was the dumb move.
