Unfortunate for the kid. Hope he makes a quick and full recovery.

And, yes, preseason becomes very meaningful when projected starters get lost to injury.

The Bills won this game & are winners this preseason thus far having no injuries. The score does not matter in preseason.

Sucks for him but he may not have been the starter anyway.

The reports on him were he was looking like crap and getting beat pretty bad on a regular basis

I haven't read anything one way or the other. What reports?

Perhaps the biggest disappointment of Steelers training camp has been the struggles of first-round pick David DeCastro (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/14935/david-decastro).

Considered the best guard prospect to come out of college in a decade, DeCastro has failed to beat out Ramon Foster (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/12883/ramon-foster), who went undrafted three years ago, for the starting right guard spot.

Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/5536/ben-roethlisberger) asked DeCastro whether he was having more difficulty with the mental or physical part of the game. "He said, ‘The mental part I got. The physical is a lot tougher. These guys are really good,'" Roethlisberger told the Beaver County Times (http://www.timesonline.com/sports/local_sports/steelers-adams-making-a-push/article_d463b47e-d874-51e4-b8e8-072f9c67b296.html#.UB-7OfQTryA.twitter).

DeCastro still might end up starting at right guard in Thursday's preseason opener at Philadelphia because left guard Willie Colon (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/9717/willie-colon) is dealing with an ankle injury. That would move Foster from right to left guard, opening the right guard spot for DeCastro.

Foster made it clear that he isn't conceding the starting job to DeCastro.

"You don't want to just passively give away your starting role," Foster told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette (http://www.post-gazette.com/stories/sports/steelers/mundy-expands-his-safety-net-role-647933/#ixzz22q7rM36Q). "This is a world championship team, you want to be a guy starting on that team. We're both going to get better no matter who wins the job. We'll just handle that at the end of camp. Is there a sense of urgency? Definitely. I think it's there for Dave, too."

Numerous reports on Sirius to from host and callers said he has looked pretty bad

He got hurt during the 1st quarter, not many second stringers out there in the first quarter were there ? I think by other's injuries or high water, he was their starting guard.

Well, he's started 3 times at RG:

ESPN and Sirius callers - there's a pair. :plane:

EDIT:

I agree, though - DeCastro hasn't been as expected thru camp. It's tough IMO to play OL for PGH, what with R-Burger darting around. Their linemen get their legs exposed a lot.

Dareus was having his way with him, Pouncey was abused. They were awful up front.

So much for being the best OG prospect in a decade. If he was struggling before...

There is nothing wrong with DeCastro. Rookie o-linemen struggle.

And Pittsburgh has a high ceiling of what they expect from their linemen.

That is why starting Glenn at LT is a curious move by the Bills.

Pouncey dominated from the beginning. DeCastro was looking like a bust even before this injury, which won't help him.

Bingo!

He'll be avg at best, and yet more proof why you never spend a 1st rounder on an OG

Not in all cases at all

Take J.R. Sweezy from Seattle. OG Picked in the 7th round is going to start and looks WAY better than the alleged cant miss best OG prospect in a decade DeCastro

Pouncey had a good rookie year, but I don't think he's matched it since. Living off his rep.

coastal's a joke character. Pittsburgh has started complete scrubs on the OL the last few years. J.Scott starting LT in the SB, yeah really high expectations there.
