There isn't a chance in hell he makes it to the PS. IR at worst.

I would not be surprised to see him on IR for the year, that way he does not have to clear waivers.

If the rumor is true, he's on IR.

I don't think he will be placed on the PS injured. He will probably end up on the IR for the year. 10-12 weeks is a little too long to be out to be designated our return eligable IR player. Expect us to sign someone from the waiver wire or bring back a player like Prince Miller.

IR. No way he clears waivers.

The IR exception, new (again) this year, stipulated that the person that could be called back had to be on the final 53 before going on IR prior to the first game...correct?

Yes.

I wouldn't fart around with him if true. Broken bones in the foot usually heal funny. Just IR him and get a veteran CB off of the waiver wires. Hanson from Philly is whom I would lobby for.

Line of reasoning for keeping 6 CB's and 4 WR's plus Smith---IR Brooks between final roster and the first week, replace his spot with a WR (Hagan, IMO most likely unless he signs elsewhere), Brooks eligible to come back later in the season and not lost for the entire year.

Under the rules Brooks would have to be designated as the pull-back player at the time he’s placed on injured reserve.

Brooks had surgery on the foot Thursday, he broke it while being stepped on by a teammate in practice, Gailey said he is out indefinitely. I don't think they'll use the new IR rule on him, I think that may be used for McGee, but I do think that we'll see Brooks put on the IR.
