When the clock hit noon it was not just College Football fans that had reason to be excited as the NFL waivers officially ended and the teams could begin to sign players to their practice squads. The Bills thus far have only officially said that it may take some time to figure it all out because there is interest in opposing teams players who were cut.

First five names reported by Mark Gaughan.

No real surprises yet.

I'm fine with those five...other than possibly Easley I don't see any other teams raiding the PS for any of them. Let them continue to develop, they already know the system and if there is an injury and they're needed they are already in town practicing with the team.

The Vikings claimed him

Isn't Gilbert in his 4th year or something? How does he still qualify for PS?

Yup, Asper is on the Vikings 53.

DraftBoy, with Minnesota claiming Asper, I'm wondering about Keith Williams. There were some good reports on him coming out of training camp. I know he's been primarily a guard, but does he have the ability to pick up the center position to give Buffalo that versatility down the road? I suspect that if he does, the Bills might add him to the PS.

I just find it kind of strange that as of now, the Bills have not announced any additions to their PS. Most teams have already added several players, and some are at the full eight.

Perhaps we have already signed the four remaining guys mentioned by Gaughan, plus a few others, and just haven't acknowledged them. Or maybe we just lack that sense of urgency, like we have for the last 12 years on the non-road to the playoffs.

I think us, Miami and Washington are the only ones yet to announce any official PS signings.

They need to add an O-line, a d-line, and a LBer to that list. And maybe a TE.

No action on Roosevelt by any team yet?

You have to figure when Smith/Jackson get up and going that Thigpen will bounce and one of these WRs will be moved up.

Roosevelt used up his PS eligibility.

Cowboys DE cut Clifton Geathers appears to be heading to Buffalo. I assume he will be on the PS.

I see the Bills signed David Snow rather than Keith Williams. Must be because Williams can't play center, or that would have given the Bills too many plauyers named "Williams" and the coaches were afraid they'd get confused.

I kind of expected Jarron Gilbert to be signed to the PS. He started to show something on the field lately and has a nice combo of size and athleticism that enables him to be a swing player at both DE and DT. When you have a twofer player like that, it's almost like having an extra roster spot.

Geathers still isn't listed. Had a Cowboys fan tell me he is no longer PS eligible...don't know if he's right or not, to be honest, but it's funny he's not on the board yet.

Maybe he's the guy that replaces Brooks on the roster and becomes the ninth dlineman? Wouldn't like the move personally, but...

Could be, if he's an active roster guy I'd be a little surprised if this is the move. Why go with a 34 DL over a guy like Gilbert on the active roster?

I agree completely, but his lack of presence on the roster page must mean something. Could be he just hasn't actually signed yet...

2 more added today, according to John Wawrow of the AP.

Also on Monday, the Bills signed cornerback T.J. Heath and tight end LaMark
Brown to their practice squad.
Heath, listed at 6-foot-1 and 179 pounds, played in five games with
Jacksonville last season. He signed with Cincinnati this offseason before being
cut by the Bengals last week.
Brown, an undrafted rookie free agent, signed with Atlanta before being
released last week

Good grief. I'm more ill than DB. I actually found film on Brown.

He transfered from Kansas State to small college Minn. St. after a coaching change. Looks like a Dickerson clone at 6-3 220. TE ? More like an H-Back or big WR. Interesting.

Haha! He was actually a stand out at this year Casino Del Sol All-Star Game in Tuscon. I have some notes on him to post last along with Heath. Just slow with the holiday today.

Saddest practice squad ever.

Why?

Easley, Aiken, Gilbert and Green are acceptable, and probably more ready than anybody to be called up if necessary. I'm sure the list would include Asper if Minny hadn't put him on their 53.

Heath and Brown I don't know too much about, but it seems like they always have a TE and a second DB in the wings.
