In the NFL (http://www.rantsports.com/nfl), nothing is guaranteed. New York Jets (http://www.rantsports.com/new-york-jets/) punter T.J. Conley has unfortunately found that out the hard way.
Just days before the start of the regular season, the Jets have decided to part ways with Conley (above) after being unimpressed with his inconsistent punting this preseason.
The 27-year-old Conley, a former University of Idaho Vandal, was in camp (http://www.rantsports.com/new-york-jets/2012/09/04/new-york-jets-punter-t-j-conley-cut/#) with the Jets every summer since 2009, having been a final cut in 2009 and 2010 before winning the starting job last season.
This year, he initially made the team out of camp, only to find himself out of a job by midweek.
In his place, the Jets have signed 24-year-old free agent punter Robert Malone, who was in camp with the San Diego Chargers (http://www.rantsports.com/san-diego-chargers) this preseason but really had no chance to unseat their excellent punter, Mike Scifres.
Malone was undrafted coming out of Fresno State in 2010, and he’s had stints with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (http://www.rantsports.com/tampa-bay-buccaneers) and the Detroit Lions (http://www.rantsports.com/detroit-lions).

Jets try out 2 recently release Bills (http://blogs.buffalobills.com/2012/09/04/jets-try-out-2-recently-release-bills/)<small style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px; color: rgb(51, 51, 51); font-family: 'Arial Regular', Arial, sans-serif; line-height: 18px; ">Posted by Chris Brown on <abbr title="2012-09-04T22:00:33-0400" style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px; border-top-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-bottom-style: none; cursor: pointer; ">September 4, 2012 – 10:00 pm </abbr></small>

The Jets tried out a pair of former Bills players that were released in the cut down to 53 last Friday.
According to ESPNNewYork.com’s Rich Cimini, New York tried out P Shawn Powell and WR Derek Hagan (http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/jets/post/_/id/14965/jets-work-out-two-ex-bills?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter). Though conspiracy theorists will claim it’s an effort to get a feel for the Bills’ plans for Sunday’s game, this looks pretty legit.
Powell has talent and the Jets have punter issues after clipping T.J. Conley earlier Tuesday. Their receivers coach Sanjay Lal also has familiarity with Hagan, having coached him in Oakland.

I am wondering why you bothered to make this thread.

It's relevant to this week's game.

To expound on that if we can force the Jets to punt with a new and unexperienced punter maybe he blows it and we get a huge advantage in field position.
