Former Browns/Ravens owner Art Modell is in the hospital and close to death as his vital organs are shutting down, per ESPN Radio. Modell owned the Browns for 34 years, purchasing the team in 1961. Something like this and Ralph's recent hospitalization makes me worried that Ralph Wilson probably doesn't have a lot of time left with us. Mr. Wilson and the Bills have been part of my life for over 40 years, it will truly be a sad day for me (for many) when he passes.

Re: Art Modell Close to Death
Ralph is too stubborn to die.
I went to the Rockpile for many games as a child. Ralph was in his 40's then and looked 65 with a long grey raincoat, walking the sidelines. I swear he's worn that same raincoat for 50 + years and should be buried in it, when he passes on at age 136.
Modell got his championship in Baltimore but the residents of Cleveland felt betrayed. Better hope God isn't a Browns fan. RIP.Anonymity is an abused privilege, abused most by people who mistake vitriol for wisdom and cynicism for wit

Re: Art Modell Close to Death
It's too bad one of the things he'll most be remembered for is moving the Browns out of Cleveland.
Does he deserve to be elected into the Hall of Fame ? I think so, he was influential to the growth of the NFL.
RIP Art Modell.

Re: Art Modell Close to Death
Can't blame him for moving out of Cleveland.
We should give even more credit to Mr. Wilson for keeping the Bills in Buffalo.Last edited by TacklingDummy; 09-06-2012, 09:38 AM.

I want to do one really great thing and then be mediocre for 50+ years. And then I want people to
1) Keep praising me for the one great thing, no matter how bad everything else I do becomes
2) Praise me even more for simply not doing anything to undo the great thing.
What a great setup.
