This quote is pathetic and infuriates me. Take it like a man and stop being a whiny ***** Mario!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Williams told Mike Mazzeo of ESPNNewYork.com, “Pass blocking doesn’t consist of illegal hands to the face just about every play, which, when somebody tells you that, and you’re five yards away from it, and you walk away like you don’t see him telling you you’re getting punched in the face every time, then that dictates somebody like myself having to take care of that on my own,” Williams added, “It’s not something that’s really going to dictate something, but what are you going to about it? You’re getting off the ball and getting punched in the face, literally — not by accident — just about every other time, and that’s a penalty, last time I checked, unless they changed it with the new CBA or something. Last time I checked, that’s a penalty.”

Spot on, when you get punched in the face, you have the option to either cower and do nothing but complain or get mad and punch back, he needs to man up and "punch" back. The whole defense lacked any kind of Fire yesterday, that unit is in need of a motivational leader, unfortunately I don't see one on the roster. Barnett may be the closest thing, but even he seems "quiet".

Merriman was a great motivator, and leader. I wish we would've kept him.

On the season, Mario Williams is making $1.18 million per tackle.

In fairness, Mario Williams was very upfront with the Bills when he came here - he said he was not a vocal leader and just wanted to do his job. So the fact that he is not a leader should not surprise anyone.

Where's the DC?? How is the pass rush going to get to the QB when Wannstedt wouldn't change anything about the defense to compensate the jets quick passing plays? It works both ways people If you can't get a pass rush the secondary will get picked apart, and if the DBs can't tie up the WRs for more than two seconds the pass rush becomes a non-factor. You can point the finger at the 100 million dollar man all you'd like. But where was Dareus, K. Williams, and Anderson? Why did we barely blitz. I'm convinced this is Wannstedts doing, and first and foremost he should be taking some heat....a lot of heat. I hope Chan chewed him up after yesterday. We'll see

so i really dont know enough about that rule and how it is consistently called in the nfl. but if mario was getting that same treatment all the time dont you think he would have commented about it at some point in his career? i mean if thats legal and it worked against him, why wouldnt every lineman do it? and if every lineman was doing it then im expected to believe mario chose this one instance to use it as an excuse?

something aint adding up

but regardless, we should see whether it is legal or not next game. if some scrub player can neutralize one of the best ends in the league with it you can bet your ass the next few guys are gonna try it. so either mario starts punching them back in the face or the refs decide it really is a penalty they want to call, or both. either way now that its been made a very public issue in the league we will get our answer presently

This is unacceptable. No one around here will agree that Mario Williams was overplayed by some scrub on the other side of the line. That scrub must have been holding him and punching him in the mouth every play!

For the record if I was a KC Offensive Lineman, any time this weekend that Mario came near me, I'd punch him in the mouth too because it clearly gets him off of his game and makes him a nonfactor.

What was Wannsedt suppose to? Run out there and yell at the Jets linemen? Pull Williams from the game because he broke a finger nail? How about Williams punch him in the mouth and stand up like a man? Way to make excuses for him.

kishoph
09-11-2012, 09:31 AM
Here's a couple pictures (from another board) that show what Williams was complaining about. I can't say that his complaints weren't justified, but bringing it out in his post game presser over and over and using it as what seems like an excuse for a poor performance was just wrong and has left a bad impression. It's fine to complain to the refs and even your coaches, but how far do you carry on about it and seemingly do nothing about it on the field. The media is making a joke of him and his salary, hopefully that will spark something in him and he'll come out against the Chiefs and play like he cares, because it didn't seem like it Sunday.
