It certainly is pretty important. Since the 12-team playoff format started in 1990, only 22 of 184 (12%) of teams that started 0-2 made the playoffs. 3 of those 22 teams won the Super Bowl, though.

0-2 is a pretty big hole to start in. The Bills would be 0-2 in the AFC and 0-1 in the division. Winning this game would reset the season, provide hope and get the team's psyche in the right place. Given the history of losing they are trying to overcome, I don't know if this team could recover from 0-2.
