AUBURN, Ala. -- Auburn linebacker Lemarcus Rowell was suspended indefinitely Monday after being charged with marijuana possession and driving under the influence.

Rowell, 20, was stopped for speeding early Sunday morning, Opelika police Capt. Melvin Harrison said. A search of his vehicle also led to a charge of carrying a pistol without a permit. All three charges are misdemeanors.

Rowell was released on bond Sunday.

The former Parade All-American played in 11 games as a freshman in 2002, recording 20 tackles. Rowell was expected to compete for the backup middle linebacker job behind senior Dontarrious Thomas.
