    Panthers have bad habit of late collapses

    It is impossible, given the variables involved, to quantify how significant a difference tailback Stephen Davis might have made on the Carolina Panthers' fortunes over the last two seasons.

    Since no one can say for sure how Davis might have performed in the Carolina offense -- whether he would have done better or worse than the Panthers' tailbacks or if he would have worn down opposition defenses and protected leads better -- any guess is speculative.

    There are some Carolina losses in the past two years, however, in which it might be fair to surmise that Davis could have reversed the result. Here are a few of them:

    The Panthers believe RB Stephen Davis will help eliminate the rash of late-season collapses that have occurred the past two years.
