    Lions release WR Todd Fry and G Rob Vian

    ALLEN PARK, Mich. — The Detroit Lions announced today that they have released wide receiver Todd Fry and guard Rob Vian. Both signed with the Lions as undrafted rookie free agents on May 2, 2003.

    Fry, 5-11, 185, was a four-year letterwinner and three-year starter at Washington & Jefferson (Washington, Pa.). He finished his collegiate career having caught 186 passes for 3,042 yards and scored 27 touchdowns (25 receiving, two rushing). In 2002, Fry established a school record for career receptions (186) and is second all-time in career receiving yards (3,042) and career receiving TDs (25). Fry was a 2002 second-team All-Presidents Athletic Conference honoree after hauling in 39 passes for 470 yards and four touchdowns. He attended River High School in Hannibal, Ohio.

    Vian, 6-4, 316, was the starting right guard at Boise State for his final three college years. As a senior in 2002, Vian was named First-team All-WAC while helping the Broncos to an overall record of 12-1, the WAC Championship and a victory in the Crucial.com / Humanitarian Bowl. Vian was a key cog in Boise State’s offense which led the country in scoring (45.6 points-per-game), total offense (501.5 yards-per-game), and offensive passing efficiency (169.35 rating), and was 10th in passing yards per game (292.9) and 22nd in rushing yards per game (208.5). He attended McNary High School in Keizer, Oregon.
