ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- The clearing of land prior to the installation of the Broncos' newest practice field at the Paul D. Bowlen Memorial Broncos Centre began in May, just before the team began its three-day minicamp.

But the origins of that new field -- the third at the team's Dove Valley facility -- date back further than that, much further. They go all the way back to Nov. 26, 2000, a day that the Broncos emerged with a wild 38-31 win over the Seattle Seahawks.

Following a scoreless first quarter, the offenses motored up and down the field ceaselessly, as if they were powered by Formula One engines with limitless fuel tanks. Yet they did so in spite of a driving rain that persisted from start to finish. Denver's offense gained 538 yards; Seattle's 354. By the time the game was done, the rain continued to drop from the skies, but the teams had combined for 69 points in one of the most enthralling games in the NFL that season.
