Football Outsiders Breaks down Bills Run D

Good read. Broken record at this point, but we never brought more than they could block in the run game. Always had a enough to block us.

Long story short: You don't want the defender at the point of attack to be a 220 lb Safety.

He thinks we can win up front with just 7, even though 2 of the 7 are safeties. Maybe if Dareus/Kyle/Mario/Anderson we're winning up front every single down his defense might work, but the other team gets paid too.

It's a simple numbers game. If you have 7 defenders, and your 7th defender happens to be a safety (Byrd/Wilson), there's a good chance that they can break a big run because the single high safety isn't going to scrape down and fill. Just awful.

In our two losses so far, Wannstedt's biggest problem is coming out with a poor gameplan and then failing to make adjustments.

The NFL is like a chess match. You have to be able to recognize what the opponent is doing, and find ways to combat that.

Long story even shorter: Wannstadt got outcoached. Again.
