Here's why our D is terrible:

Let's start with the people out of position:

George Wilson was a WR and never has been a good Safety. I liked him when we played Vick and we were in something like a 46 D.

Arthur Moats was a DE and never has been a good LB. I liked him as a ST and a rush DE in situations.

Bryan Scott was a Safety and never has been a good LB. I never liked him as a starter and don't think he's a depth player either, but he is a nice guy.

Kelvin Sheppard is our MLB, but should be a SAM. A solid player with alot of upside.

Nic Barnett is a solid ILB in a 3-4.

Aaron Williams was a solid 2nd round pick, but is a cover 2 corner.

So, let's start by getting players back into position.

Searcy at safety

Williams in a cover 2 or go back to McKelvin

Barnett can play the Will

Sheppard as the Sam

Guess that puts Morrison back at his natural position of middle LB

If our D was all players at there natural position it would be

4 DL same

Moats, Kelsay, Moore, White as DEs

Williams, Dareus, Johnson, Carrington DTs

LB

Barnett
Moorison-
Sheppard

Bradham, as only LB depth

CB- Ik Byrd was a CB, but hes a natural S

Rest are the same

SS- Searcy, Scott
FS- Byrd, Howell

Actually many thought Aaron Williams might play S in the NFL when he came out... :couch:

Good points, but nothing that has really hasn't been discussed before. Moats and especially White (who did play LBer in college, not DE I believe...maybe the original poster was confusing him with Batten?) will never make a 43 roster as a DE at this level, though. We could use some upgrades at some positions (SS, MLB, etc) but I still maintain that the unit's failures are far more attributable to the DC than the players.

There has been no indication that Sheppard has ever been a "solid player".

he's got 1 Williams listed as a DT, I'm assuming that would be Kyle... so where does Mario fit??

No offense, but anytime anyone says, "I seen" I immediately discount what they have to say.
