what is the name of that book? something to do with business and why teams finally turn it around?

I don't know if such a book exists, but if it did here is some of what it would say:

Winners:

-Dominate the line of scrimmage (good OL and good DL)
- Win the turnover battle (they don't turn the ball over and they force turnovers)
- Don't committ stupid penalties
- Don't pay 10 million dollar guys 100 million
- Let their GMs and HCs have lots of say, and stay out of their way (they don't micromanage)
- Hire the best coaches and GMs available
- Are more interested in winning than being cheap
- Build through the draft
- Have a longterm blueprint for success
- Have solid players who are the best at their position

Losers:
- have weaksauce lines
- play carelessly and get dumb penalties and cough the football up freely
- hire the cheapest option at GM and HC
- The GM has to be a yes man
- Get gimmic players because damn a good player is okay, but a shameless gimmick is even better
- Jersey sales and skimping on the cash and being cheap is preferable to win
- Don't have a plan regarding free agency, way overpay for mediocre talent
- Build their teams through risky free agent signings
- Draft poorly

Good post Gibby.

The best owners, IMO hire good football men for their front office, and sit back and enjoy the games.

cutler - 06, nope

trade up for sanchez, or draft freeman 09- nope

011- ok, fitz was decent, but the obvious common sense thing is to draft dalton in rd 2 or trade up for newton- nope

012- rg3 available for trade, nope...

dude, its almost a conspiracy.

it's literally like they are doing it on purpose...

So we should've drafted Gabbert? Tebow? Clausen? There's more terrible QBs than 'franchise' QBs.

Cutler sucks, Sanchez sucks, Freeman sucks- we wouldn't be much better off with any of them than we are with Fitz. None of those guys are franchise QB's.

Dalton- Maybe

Trading up for Newton or RGIII would have been far, far too risky. Even with RGIII playing well, Washington now lacks draft picks and it will hold back their rebuilding effort.

cutler does not suck, he is a good qb who has taken his team to the championship game
sanchez, w/e it still makes sense to take a chance
freeman- 10x better than fitz...

Losman worked out well and didn't set our franchise back 4 years, right?

wrong, losman was horrible in 05, they had a chance at cutler in 06 and 09- nope...

its beyond a conspiracy this team refuses to get a qb at all cost...

Mallett was sitting there in Round 3. Now he's Brady's heir apparent. Thanks a lot, Buddy.

lmao.

We don't have Chicago's D. No way Cutler gets us to a championship game.

Sanchez would just be another wasted 1st rounder, like Losman or the countless wastes we've had at other positions.

Freeman is average at best. He might be better than Fitz but he's not good enough to win with the ****storm we'd have around him.

RISKY???? Really, you do realize that any draft pick is risky and given the Bills track record of picks, its pretty sure that most of these picks wont pan out anyways. So, risky it is anyway....

Ok, the Redskins used THREE first round picks on RGIII.

You yourself say that draft picks are risky and the Bills are bad at drafting.

Given those two statements, do you REALLY want the Bills tripling down on a draft pick? Stop and think about that for a second.

the skins actually swapped 1sts, and then gave up 2 more 1sts. so they really only gave up 2 1sts... the bills- sry, no soup for you. as mark weiler would put it

You do realize that giving up 2 future first round picks is a bit risky, don't ya? So the Redskins got their QB. Great!!! Now how the hell are they going to build around him? FA? That's got them pretty far so far.

Well they used this year's 1st and gave up 2 more firsts- if they didn't make the trade, they could have drafted 1 other player this year plus the two they traded. That's 3 picks. Three first-round picks.

It's infuriating that this team has wasted 1st round picks on guys like Whitner, McCargo, Losman, McGahee, Lynch, Maybin, etc. Could you imagine if we had traded our next 2 first round picks for one of those guys on top of that?

Our drafting seems to be improving over Nix, but I still don't trust these guys to make the right call with one pick, let alone 3 years' worth of first round picks at a time.

The Bills have actually done fairly well in the later rounds and with rookie FA's.... where has it gotten us?

A team can't succeed without first-round talent.

You want to give up on a potential 'franchise' qb after a total of 13 games? Jesus christ I'm glad you're not running this team.
