You don't see daylight between the chains and a football when they are placed right and the ball is there...that was not a first down. I just can't believe this is a professional sport!

I just think this tells the whole story! We can rationalize any blown call due to the speed of the game...but this one? Seriously some head has got to roll for this screw up.

If that camera wasn't exactly in line with the football, there can be a line of sight in between the football and the first down marker even if the football is ahead of the marker. Doesn't anyone teach these kids anything anymore?

i was really confused about this call and i figured the challenge would fix it...but it didnt i have seen plenty of chain gangs coming out and have never seen a ball that far away been called a first...i was like sweet short....o wtf 1st down and lived with it.... it was a bad call though almostlike the give it to them pats game.

That photo is at a big enough angle for that space to appear even if the ball was in line with the stick from a more straight on look. There is no issue.
