2008 was Jauron and Marv's third full season. 2012 is the same for Chan and Buddy. In a head's up game, who would you take?

2008 opening day starters
QB: Edwards
RB: Lynch/Jackson
TE: Royal
WR: Evans/Reed/Parrish
Line: Peters/Dockery/Preston/Butler/Walker

DLine: Kelsay/Williams/Stroud/Denney
LB: Ellison/Poz/Mitchell
CB: McGee/Grier
S: Simpson/Whitner

2012 starters
QB: Fitzpatrick
HB: Spiller/Jackson
TE: Chandler
WR: Johnson/Jones/Graham
Line: Glenn/Levitre/Wood/Reinhart/Pears

DL: Anderson/Dareus/Williams/Williams
LB: Barnett/Sheppard/Moats

Somehow, the Patriots would win.

Don't ask me how.

On the way to the coin toss, Trent Edwards trips head first into Fitz cracking two of his ribs and gives himself a concussion.

This inspired my poll. I think we're better but we probably lose.

2008 team played harder. On "paper" 2012 team has more talent.

Just as depressing.

I think Perry Fewell's Bills would win.

Not too sure, but a lot of people would rather do this :shoothead: to themselves than be subjected to that kind of torture.

I usually try to wait a little before I vote in a poll. I voted 2008 Bills, tbh. They had massive issues, but I think they would beat this team 7 times out of 10. Even Edwards could complete passes against this lack of a pass rush and gaping holes in the zone, and Lynch (in his pro bowl year, no less) would gash us. 2012 Kyle Williams and Spiller are the wildcards. If Williams could dominate Preston (and he likely would) and if Spiller can rip off his long runs then 2012 would have a shot.

The current Bills team would win, they put up more points consistently than the 2008 team did. We have the better running game, better Oline, better Dline, and arguably the better QB. JMO

The current Bills team puts up more points because the 2008 team didn't have the luxury of playing the 2012 defense.

Marshawn would shred them. Trent would throw up the middle to the TE and RB in the flats, and the 2008 team would bend, but not break until Fitz threw a stupid pick to end the game.

Also, the 2008 punting and special teams in general is MUCH better.

Who cares about the Browns? Gailey's teams can't win in the division.

Yeah... barely.. but i think that team would beat this one. That was the Trent Edwards Arizona concision season. Pre-concussion that team would smoke us. post concussion? I'm not sure. Actually i think that team would manage to win as well either way. They had a top 15 defense that year. and everyone scores on this year's team.

I think Perry Fewell's Bills would win.

yep. Perry Fewell's '09 Bills would win. they played with something this team doesn't. Heart. They also had an average defense... average being light-years better then this atrocity.

2008 would wipe the floor with us. They were conservative as hell, so they would just pound the run, current team can't stop the run. Fewell isn't a fool, he'd load up the box and force Fitz to pass, and Gailey would play right into it. Pass pass pass pass our way to a loss.

Not sure how many of you follow Alen Dumonjic, but he's going to have an article up tomorrow about the Bills D. His synopsis on twitter was the following; doesn't matter who's coaching the D, players are playing with **** fundamentals.

At least Jaurons/Fewells teams played hard and proper, they just didn't have enough talent. They made tackles, swarmed to the ball, and gave you a full game. Current group runs around in circles, not knowing what to do or where to go. Just awful.

The 2012 offense would eat up that defense and as badly as this defense has been, I think the 2008 offense was worse than Arizona's is now. Which interior lineman on that offensive line is going to stop Williams?

2008 would win. They would score, the 2012 defense is that bad, and Edwards would make less mistakes then Fitz.

The funniest aspect of most fans is what is put right here.

How many times a game have you seen Barnett, Sheppard, and Moats on the field at the same time? What about where said corners were? Safeties? How about rotation?

This is an asinine thread for the sole fact that if we were in Madden or high school, this would be a viable conversation. But, since we aren't, and the passing game has overwhelmed said-base defenses, you should take in to theory how other coordinators would perceive a base offense.

If you know anything about football, this is a pointless thread.

Trent couldn't even score against the browns. It's not hard to make mistakes when all Trent does is throw 5 yard bombs!

The 2012 Bills have more talent but worse coaching, final score 2012 Bills win a barnburner 2-0 on a safety.

What a whiner. I didn't feel like listing out the whole roster so I just used a base package. If you want to add all the nickel corners and 4th wideouts and whatever you want, be my guest.

*clicks on thread*

I disagree completely. this offense (2012) is actually semi-competent whereas this defense is horrific. 2012 wins in a high scoring game.

The 2008 team takes the lead by 3 scores. the 2012 team comes back thanks to Jauron taking timeouts on their behalf.

the 2012 team averaging 12 yards a carry will elect not to go for the win and go for two and force overtime.

2008 team fumbles the kickoff. 2012 team throws and interception. 2008 team goes 3 and out and booms a moorman punt. 2012 team moves the ball 20 yards on 2 spiller carries. They throw a 15 yard out pattern. it's intercepted. The 2008 team loses 8 yards on 3 plays, booms punt back. 2012 goes 3 straight pass plays for 3 yards. Powell shanks a 15 yard punt. 2008 Bills run 3 times to set up long field goal and Jauron punts not feeling great about his chances with lindell from 48 yards out. 2012 bills have 3 huge runs and get to a 42 yard punt. Gailey chickesn out. Punts. Roscoe parrish returns the punt for a TD.

2008 bills fans request a roscoe extension and claim he could be a welker if used properly. 2012 bills fans are unphased by how they lost to such a crappy 2008 team. "hey, there are still 15 more games. only one game out of hte AFC East lead!"
