DETROIT -- Detroit Red Wings captain Steve Yzerman will have knee surgery in early August and is expected to miss the first two months of next season.
Yzerman, a 37-year-old center, helped Detroit win the Stanley Cup despite an injured right knee.
He decided not to have reconstructive surgery and instead will have a realignment next month in London, Ontario. He's not expected to be able to play until January.
