    Thurman and Tally

    Did anyone listen to John Murphy last night?
    thurman was telling a story about last weeks game. He and Tally and B Smith and other were watching the D and commenting that the Bills were soft on the edge. Thurman said that Tally told him what the Bills had to do to adjust to take the edge away from CJ. Thurman said they were waiting for the adjustment and it never came.
    If D Tally could see it as obvious and knew what to do, why didn't Wanny make the adjustment? He has to be the problem.
    i always thought D Tally would make a great coach. He sure was a great player.

    I don't know, but I've come to that realization as well. The interior of our DLine looks fine, so at least we don't have to worry about our DT's. But RB's continue to bust long runs off the edge. I don't know if the problem is our DE's or our LB's. I'm guessing LB.

      The sad thing is that most of us armchair GMs that watch the game say the same thing.

      Like I said before, Wanny is Bart Simpson in a game of rock, paper, scissors.

      Good ol' rock, nothing beats that.

        Dick Jaurons philosophy ,schemes and talent choices sucked, but they played hard for him. These guys play like primadona's under Pornstache.

          why are the edge's soft in the first place. have you ever heard of a strategy that is all about not holding the edge?

          talley, without knowing what he wants to do, would be great because the guy always was a motivator and he understands this town and he understands the mentality of, "we don't get any respect." but he has a storied history on how to get respect when you aren't getting it.

          i'd love to see him come inon the defensive side of things and work his way up.

          but i guess it's more important that he stands atop the M&T doors waving a pink bills flag. that's how we can best use his abilities, said Russ Brandon.

            Anyway that we could bring Bruce and Darryl back? Sure they may have lost about 10 steps in the past decade, but Bruce could still put the fear of God into opposing offenses.

              is it possible they did 'make the adjustments' and the players didn't execute?

                one run that kept happening and has happened is this inside run where kelsay tries to get super wide and he opens up a whole, then they seal off hte middel while kyle williams is sprinting towards the qb. Then the runner is free.

                This run was CJ's 83 yard TD and has been part of a lot of large runs. I hate this defense.

                  It's unbelievably sad that most Bills fans and I can call plays before they even happen.

                  If you've seen my youtube video, it's the Shaud Williams bull**** all over again. As jdal said, us armchair GM's see this crap year, after year, after year, after coordinator, after new coach, after year.... The list goes on and on. It's so pathetic. It reminds me of the movie "The Comebacks" where they finally ask the mentally handicapped kid to call the play and it scores a touchdown. Maybe we need a NON-mentally handicapped coach or coordinators to call some plays that might SURPRISE the teams we face.

                  Un****ingbelievable. I would love to have a coaching staff for one year consisting of our most intelligent posters (Sal, King, Op, Gibb, Me, Hist, trap, et cetera... almost all of us aside from Skooby would have some use on the makeshift team). Many say it, but I finally believe it: All of us fans on this board could probably do a better damn job.

                    Talley is my favorite Bills player of all time, but I really don't think he would have much success as a coach. Also, I disagree with those who contend that the 'edges' are the Bills biggest weakness...as trap already pointed out, the most success (from my perspective, anyway) opposing teams have had running on the defense have been just inside the tackles, and that's because our ends are taking themselves out of the play by getting upfield too quickly, and we don't have an MVP-caliber MLB to clean up their slop.

                    Could it be execution? Maybe, but the frequency with which it occurs on both sides and regardless of who the actual players are on the field suggests that it's a failure of the scheme.

                          Lot's of teams have DE's that are good rushers and not so good against the run.

                          That's where LB's come into play.
