As promised, here are all the numbers comparing Ryan Fitzpatrick's average length of passes (in air only) and average length of completions (air) with the other NFL QBs of this season, as well as Edwards and Losman from their Bills seasons, and Tarvaris Jackson's from Seattle and Minnesota.

Take away with all of it what you will. There's a lot to digest:

the most telling part of this is that Fitz is going DOWN from where he was before.

Check out Freemans stats. He had a great game tonight against the Vikings. His name should be brought up when people mention up & comming QBs.

The worse part is, he even has trouble connecting on 4 yard passes.

That is the nut of it. Throwing short is one thing, throwing short and not being accurate is another. If you look at Manning this year, he is throwing a lot of short passes as well. The difference is Manning is far more accurate, completing about 68% of his passes to Fitzpatrick's 61%. He is far more efficient, which you have to be if you are going to throw short.

The problem isn't just that Fitz struggles throwing the ball downfield, it is that he isn't efficient enough to do that well. He is a career 60% passer, and if you look at the best QBs that throw short a lot they are all in the mid-60's for completion percentage.

So, Fitz doesn't throw well enough downfield and doesn't throw is accurate enough short. That is the issue.

But other than that he's excellent

Great beard. That has to count for something.

The beard and the wedding ring are worse than his play on the field.

Rumor is Tampa may look to cut and run. Not sure he and Schiano are on the same page.

Putzputrid is worse than Captain Checkdown. I didn't think it was possible.

T. Jackson 2007 (MIN) 9.60 2 6.25 25

the most telling part is losmans numbers from 7-9 first year under jauron are the best the most entertaining and the biggest mistake the franchise made

should have went all in with losman if he was as bad as people on here would like to believe we would have had another top 5 qb in 2008 or 2009 but jauron wanted passive offense

The laundry boy's decision to go with Arm & Hammer instead of Tide was a bigger mistake than cutting Lossman. If I step in **** and have to scrape it off my shoe it's annoying no matter how much or how little. Please stop.

you can run the numbers all day and it comes down to THE important number..... WINS!!!!! so you can eliminate Lossman right there. TJax and hasn't played a down in a Bills uni so you can eliminate him. now you have Fitz and Edwards. not much to get excited about there. Robosack anybody???? don't make me laugh. the last decent QB the Bills had was Flutie and the organization ran him out of town. that's how pathetically run this football team is. time for The Old Fart to croak so we fans can see what it's like to have an NFL football team again.

if you call watching a squirrel running around in traffic entertaining, then you truly don't know football. your mancrush for that loser is beyond pathetic. he'd STILL be in the NFL if he was half as good as you Lickers make him to be.

What's even worse when he does complete his short passes most of the time they're not on target either and the receiver has to stop or adjust to catch the ball. He rarely ever hits them in stride where it gives them a better opportunity for YAC and turn a short pass into a big play.

I've lost count on how many times I see this on a weekly basis. Many times the guy would be open by a few steps and he would have to wait on the ball. Instead of hitting the guy in stride the ball is thrown short and the WR has to wait on it. Before you know it the DB/Safety has gained ground on the WR and it ends up incomplete, intercepted or instead of a big play if hit in stride the WR is tackled immediately.

the problem is if Wilson croaks, and a better owner doesn't come in

They did go 'all-in' on Losman by anointing him over Bledsoe. Didn't really turn out that well. Losman sucked balls, period.

Looked like everyone in Tampa was on the same page this past weekend.
