Game 1: New England at Buffalo

It's that time again! I am so bored and have nothing better to do than to put together the season opener brought to you by Madden 2003 and EA sports.

Welcome to the season opener of the 2003 season! It's going to be quite a game today as the New England Patriots come to town to face the Buffalo Bills in Orchard PArk, NY!

Here we go! It's a beautiful September day here at the Ralph, and both teams look ready to play

The Bills have won the coin toss and elect to recieve. Vineterri looks about ready to kickoff, and it's underway! Shaw gets under the kick and returns it to the 23 yard line.

(P.S. sorry some of the images were too big for some unknown reason so some pics like the kickoff were skipped, sorry)

The Bills offense sets up shop at the 23 yard line.

1st and 10 and the Bills work off the I formation.

Henry is given the ball on a pitchout and has room to work with.

Henry makes would be tacklers look like pop-warner pansies on his way upfield

He is finally taken down but not before he picks up the first. Solid running on Henry's part and good blocking up front.

First and 10 for the Bills at their own 33.

Here's an off tackle running play with Gash as lead blocker for Henry.

Henry explodes through the hole created by Teague and Brown.

Milloy tackles Henry after a 6 yard pickup by the third year back.

On 2nd and 4 at their own 40, the Bills work out of the I formation with one TE.

Bledsoe tosses Henry the rock. It seems the Bills want to establish a solid running game this afternoon, but saftey Rodney Harrison wraps up Henry for a 1 yard loss. (Sorry no pic, too big!!)

It's 3rd and 5 at the Bills 38. Bledose sets up in the shotgun with one back.

Bledsoe drops back in the pocket. Olandis Gary signals that he's open for the screen.

Bledsoe throws the ball to Gary on the short screen. Gary catches it and races downfield, shedding tacklers and picking up the first down. (Sorry again, all 3 pics were too big, almost half are too big, by like 1000 bytes, very frustrating).

It's first and 10 at the Bills 48. Bledsoe sends 5 wide.

Bledsoe steps back and surveys the field.

Seymour blows past Sullivan and drops Bledsoe for a sack.

It' 2nd and 13 for the Bills at their own 45. The Bills set up with 2 tight ends.

Bledsoe hands the ball off to Henry on the draw play.

Henry powers his way through but only gains 3 yards.

It's 3rd and 10 at the 49 with 10:04 remaining in the 1st quarter. Bledsoe is in the shotgun with 5 recievers.

He launches a deep pass.

But Bledsoe overthrows Shaw bringing up 4th down.

Moorman and the punting squad set up the the 49.

Moorman lets go a deep punt into New England territory which lands out of bounds at the 15.

New England sets up for their first drive and the Bills D gets ready for their first appearence as well.

1st and 10 for the Bills with 9:51 on the clock deep in Patriot territory.

Henry is handed the ball and heads upfield.

He dives for some extra yards, but only picks up 2.

2nd and 8 with 22 yards to the endzone for Buffalo.

Bledsoe hands Henry the ball.

Henry takes the ball up the gut and gains another 2 yards on the ground.

This is totally unrealistic! The Bills will be able to run all over the patsies!

It's 3rd and 6 at the 20 yard line as the Bledsoe sets up with one back behind him.

The blitz is on!

But Henry picks up the blitz nicely and makes his block on Phifer.

Bledsoe tosses the deep ball.

It's headed for Moulds!

And it's caught at 8 yard line!

But the ball is redirected to the weak side. Henry has blockers in front.

Smith sneaks in, however, and tackles Henry for minimal gain.

It's 2nd and goal in this redzone opportunity.

Bledsoe steps back to throw.

But his pass is batted away by Poole in the endzone.

He has Shaw open over the middle.

He fires the ball to Shaw!

Shaw makes the catch, turns, and dives for the goal line!!

But he's just a yard short of the endzone, 4th down.

And he splits the uprights, putting the Bills up by 3 near the end of the quarter.

Brown catches the ball and is tackled by Winfield at the 33 yard line.

It's 1st and 10 for NEw England at their own 33, the first New England first down of the game.

Brady hands the ball off to Smith.

Smith finds a hole and heads upfield.

Smith gets upended by Fletcher, but not before gaining a good 7 yards on the ground.

It's 2nd and 3 for New England with 3:03 left in the quarter on their owm 40 yard line. Spikes signals for the crowd to make noise for the upcoming play.

Brady hands off to Smith again.

But Smith is stuffed by LB Jeff Posey for no gain.

It's now 3rd and 3 for New England and they could sure use a first down.

Brady hands off to Smith for a third straight time.

But Smith is tackled just inches short of the 1st and New ENgland is forced to punt.

Walter gets ready to punt the ball away with 1:31 on the clock.

Shaw calls for a fair catch at the Buffalo 19 yard line.

The two teams get ready for the drive.

This game is not right, we should be able to see Adams better in the middle of the D, the guy who impersonating him is not big enough to play the role of Adams. But so far you haven't seen his name called on 3 straight running plays, Hey it might be Adams.

It's 1st and 10 for Buffalo at their own 19.

Bledsoe hands off to Henry on the first play of the drive.

Henry has Brown and Gash in front to block.

Hnery is brought down by Law after picking up 9 yards on the play.

Bledsoe recieves the play in the huddle

It's 2nd and 1 for Buffalo with 40 seconds remaining in the first quarter of play.

Bledsoe drops back with 5 wide recievers available.

Bledsoe releases the ball into the secondary.

And it is caught by Henry at the Buffalo 43 yard line.
