The Buffalo Bills are one of a number of NFL teams where major changes could be looming according to a report at CBSSPORTS.com.

Jason LaCanfora’s report suggests there will be more front office movement than the norm. In addition to Buffalo, LaCanfora identifies Cleveland, Kansas City, San Diego, Jacksonville and the New York Jets as franchises where major changes might take place. Carolina has already fired its General Manager.

Didn't think that Ralphy would change FO due to his age but I can see this him doing so for Polian though.

I know everyone loves Polian and he was the best GM we've ever had.

However, he has had some lousy drafts recently and might insist on hiring his son wherever he goes.

if this is so, he wouldn't have come for his WOF ceremonies.

I agree. His son did a crappy job in Indy!

I'm afraid that if we hire Bills Polian, we will get more of Chris Polian than Bill's.

That bridge has been burnt. As long as his daughter has a say, it won't happen.

Expect him in NY, taking the Jets job.

The issue here is the package deal. If we take Polian on it would have to be;

Bill Polian-Team President
Doug Whaley-General Manager
Chris Polian-Assistant General Manager

I need a degree of seperation between Bill and Chris to be comfortable.

Bringing Chris along would completely negate the deal to me. I'm pretty comfortable with Whaley taking over the GM role in the near future.

I wouldn't be too worried about Bill and Chris being a "Package deal." Chris landed a job with Atlanta last offseason. While I guess it's possible that Bill might want to bring Chris into the fold, I don't think it's a foregone conclusion. It's not like Chris is sitting at home waiting for a job.

Also, take this for what it's worth, but here in Indiana, I get the impression that Irsay felt "overshadowed" by the Polians and used the Colts' bad season last year to get rid of them. Irsay has a pretty big ego. My guess is, had Manning not been injured and the Colts not finished 2-14, the Polians would still be there.

Its being reported that Bill is telling teams, its a package deal.

The article said he "would like to." That's what I was going on...

But, like I said, I don't think that Chris was as big of a problem in Indy as was led on... The problem was, Irsay wanted more attention.

And in an ironic twist of fate, Doug Whaley ends up getting fired for calling Polian's son a dumb *****.

I would actually like to see Whaley running the team, TBH. I think he's got a good future, and I'd like to hire someone on the upswing of their career rather than the downswing.

Plus, according to Wikipedia, Whaley once got in trouble when he emailed a porn video to a colleague, who then forwarded it to half the NFL. That cracked me up.

I love Polian for what he has done for this franchise, but we need to move forward not back in time.

We are already grooming Whaley to be our next GM, and I hope he does an adequate job.

Isn't Polian + son better than anything we've had in the 2000's. not sure we have much leverage when it comes to any negotiating

With Wilson as team owner that's NEVER going to happen. Wilson isn't comfortable giving the keys to his team to guys he doesn't trust and sadly the older he gets the more and more Howard Hughesion he becomes. Although I really have to think we might need to revamp our scouts/blesto scouting reports we use because I just can't believe that after all these years that it's just our GM is the problem.

The rumors are that the Bills will be making changes after the season is over, I'm fine with Whaley getting a shot at the GM job. We need to have some young blood running things, not trying to relive the past and bring in another 70 year old. Polian was a great GM, they key word being 'was', plus having to bring in his son in a package deal, would be a huge mistake. I have a ton of respect for Bill Polian, but the Bills need to move in a new direction.

I could not agree more. I'd love to see Whaley come in and take over the reins at GM. If he decides that he wants his own coaching staff, I hope he takes a shot at a successful college coach (like a Harbaugh) or a great O or D coordinator. I want some new blood, not retreads trying to rekindle their coaching careers.

yup.

I'm not so sold on Polian based on what happened in INdy towards the end. Polian struck gold with Peyton. The rest of the team wasn't all that great .

why is whaley so important? the drafts have gotten worse since he got on board. rounds 2-6 are yielding less than they did before. team is worse.

not saying he's the problem, but how as fans can we tell he is a good one worth keeping?

in light of not knowing whaley's excellence, i think polian is the fastest way to turn around the ship. with idiot son or not.

Why are you comparing a guy who was out of the NFL for a decade and was never a GM to a career GM who is one of the most successful executives in league history, and has only been out of a job for a year?

I merely commented on the idiocy of the Bill's organization for re-hiring a former coach who has the dual distinctions of losing 4 straight Super bowls and beyond any logic was elected to the Hall of Fame in Canton. Levy never shined come playoff time. Thinking that he was GM material was goofy.

Well, if they are considering hiring another retread seeking another fat paycheck, they are. I'm sure both are multimillionaires, which is fine. but neither retired on their laurels. Levy returned to BUF, and Polian takes up space and cashes a check as a talking head on some broadcaster - Fox?

Indy was successful because of Peyton Manning, not Polian.

Look at last season without Manning. They sucked for Luck.

Denver is pretty successful now. Elway and Fox are such geniuses. (Well Elway does get credit for bringing in Manning).

Both, but more so Manning. Polian is still one of the best NFL executives ever.

I remember all the Brady/Manning debates from the 2000's, and it always seemed that Manning was the one credited with playing on a stacked offense with James, Clark, Wayne, Harrison, etc. I think some of them came in before Polian's time, but still, the idea in some quarters that Manning was carrying Colt teams that were held together with duct tape and bailing wire is silly. They were phenomenal.
