View Full Version : What are the implications of Fitzpatrick's improved accuracy?

I'm not advocating for a particular position in this thread, and I'm not willing to give Fitzpatrick a complete pass on his late interception (though it appears TJ Graham's route running on the play was a contributing factor). However, Fitzpatrick's accuracy has been improving of late, particularly against the Patriots. So what do you think? Is it a fluke? Is David Lee's coaching finally starting to make a difference? Can you trust it, or have you just been disappointed by Fitz too many times to trust that anything could have really changed? Fitzpatricks game states were 27 completions in 40 attempts for 337 yards, 2 touchdowns, and the 1 late interception. I couldn't help but notice that unlilke earlier in the season when a lot of his passes were well off target, most were where they were supposed to be, and even most of the incompletions were at least close to where they should have been.

Just a good streak, but it's largely that the Pats cant cover.

There was a lot of passes that were thrown behind receivers.

Fitz was finally throwing the ball downfield today, just like the beginning of the season last year when he had success. hmmm....

There was a lot of passes that were thrown behind receivers.

Including the last one, if Graham would of took that underneath route as so many people are insisting he should of, the ball would of not only have been well behind, but would of been 5 feet over his head. I just watched it about a dozen times and no matter which route Graham ran that pass was not going to connect.

Maybe he told David Lee to take his mechanics and shove em?

i don't know. i think it's stunning how few times he's actually connected on the few times he's thrown long this season. i think his limitations are hurting the team.

On the fumble, he was throwing the screen that they throw all the time and it was covered. if he had more accuracy in a variety of 10-20 yard passes, that screen would be open more.

He still was an issue for me. i don't trust him and i get the sense the bills don't trust him either.

We have to put up with Fitz the rest of this season. I expect to see a different QB start next season.

if by "improved" you mean he was actually throwing the ball close enough to the recievers that they were able to adjust and make the catch, that doesnt say much. Most of his throws were still way off target, causing recievers to break stride, turn back, flat out stop to make adjustments... perfect example the first 2nd down play of the game when stevie had to come back for a ball thrown well behind him, resulting in being a yard short of a 1st down, then 15000 penaties later and we go from what should be a 1st down to 3rd and forever

I really have to disagree Tiger. If the comment means you relatively think he's getting more accurate, maybe. But overall he's sub-par in that category. He's real bad on longer throws and also bad when it's an especially important time in the game. Behind, over, under... he's all over the place. Like I pointed out in another thread, the series before that last series he was atrocious in the end zone.

Statistically he pretty much outplayed Tom Brady. But we all know those stats don't tell the story.

Fitz is still inconsistent. Time to move on.

We will lose games by 4 fewer points

Yeah, I'm thinking Nix and Co will still believe we need a guy that can actually lead a receiver instead of slowing him up, making him jump or stop, etc.

 There is none, because Fitz sucks...he has always sucked and he always will suck.

Once you get that through you heads, you'll feel better.

His mechanics have changed a little. I see improvement. However, all the mechanical adjustments in the world aren't going to make him process better. I supposed Chan could just be a complete idiot and totally at fault for Fitz processing...but I don't think anyone can be that independently stupid.

I don't know about that, 4 games in a row he's turned it over in the final minutes, that's pretty consistent.
