AP could still rank em 1 at the end of the year, technically. Not that that would mean anything.

And why laugh at Meyer? It's not like Ohio State won't be a powerhouse year after year with him there in the future.

A Notre Dame Ohio State BCS Title game would have been fun to watch though.

And yes, the specter of a ND loss to USC must have the NCAA sweating bullets. If ND loses, it will be another all SEC Championship game. Don't feel embarrassed. This team is one win away from a National Championship, something no Irish fan could have guessed at the beginning of the year. The Irish are back, and they aren't going away (regardless of what happens next week). For a program that's been dead for the most part of a decade, a lasting revival to prominence is more important than any win this season.

Those who work in the TV industry are already saying if it ends up ND - Bama it will be the most watched NC game ever. They are saying it could pull similar numbers to the Super Bowl (though I doubt that).

Yup, people telling me, it doesn't matter you'll get killed by Bama don't realize simply making the game is a massive accomplishment for a program that started to question Brian Kelly.

That would be quite a shock but the Catholic crowd alone would draw in huge numbers, heck they might even have group broadcasts at local Churches. That would be a huge boom for college football viewership, like amazingly good.

Alabama's SOS 5th. Oregon 7th. K State 22nd. ND 40th.

Correct me if I am wrong here...

Since Notre Dame doesn't play in a conference, the teams they have played don't play eachother (which gaurentees one of your opponents winning and one losing). So, since most teams that Notre Dame play don't play eachother in the same conference, their SOS is skewed because one team isn't always guaranteed a win.

OpIv37
11-21-2012, 09:19 AM
This is the frustrating thing about college football.

All a team can do is play the teams on their schedule. To date, Notre Dame has beaten every team on their schedule, including several ranked teams. They've blown out several opponents and put up spectacular defensive numbers in the process.

But now, the teams they beat weren't good enough? The schedules are typically made 4 or 5 years in advance. No one knows how good or bad the teams on the schedule will be that far out. What are they supposed to do? Call teams after the rankings come out on Sunday and see if they are available to play 6 days later?

And yes, I know ND isn't the only team affected by this and that it happens to teams every year, but it's just frustrating that something the team has so little control over becomes such a big factor in the rankings and BCS standings.

We need a TD now to force USC to throw, which will end the game.

Good return. I just hope this garbage O can capitalize

Riddick playing well- the red zone O needs to come through.

I don't like that QB draw in that situation

Argh. If they get the TD using the timeout will be worth it. But if not, it will hurt in a close game.

Of course- why not make it harder?

Stupid use of a timeout by Kelly. That's his second blatantly bad use of a timeout this game.

My sports teams have been pulling epic choke jobs for over 20 years. I'll enjoy it if the last second ticks off the clock with no flags and ND is still winning. Not before.

I'd love to see Te'o in our blue and red but it's highly unlikely.
