All: The new Billszone site with the updated software is scheduled to be turned on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. The company that built it, Dynascale, estimates a FOUR HOUR shut down, from 8pm Pacific, (5pm Eastern) while they get it up and running. Nobody will be able to post in any forum until they are done. Afterwards, you may need to do a web search for the site, as old links will not work, because the site is getting a new IP address. Please be patient. If there are bugs, we will tackle them one at a time. Remember the goal is to be up and running with no glitches by camp. Doing this now assures us of that, because it gives us all summer to get our ducks in a row. Thank you!
Buddy & his merry band of fools went after this guy pretty hard, he's not even starting for the Chargers. Under performed his entire career yet they wanted to sign him.
What's hard to understand? Meachem isn't very good, yet the FO tried to sign him for whatever reason.
Just another example of how they can't evaluate talent. If you can't succeed in Norv's vertical system you aren't going to do **** in a horizontal spread with Fitz unable to throw 20 yards down field. We're lucky SD overpaid for him.
Meanwhile Levitre and Byrd are set to hit the FA market. Glad Buddy's on top of things.
Apparently the Bills didn't try very hard. Do they? They didn't do the "don't-let-him-leave-buffalo" routine.
Maybe I'm a little older now and have seen the kind of management stuff a few times myself. Let me tell you something. Finding out talent, especially from outside (i.e. not knowing on daily basis for a few years), involving big money, is one of the hardest thing in management. To clean out and restart after every single mistake, you will be out of business pretty soon.
To me, the single biggest mistake Nix and Co. made so far is to go with 3-4 instead of continuing the 4-3 defense we had to start the new era. Drafting is OK. FAs is a plus (remember the Urbik, Pears, Jones, Nelson, etc.). I'm not 100% sold on Gailey as a HC, but I'm not privy to the HC research process. Don't know how many turned us down. Maybe Gailey was the best one that matches Nix's philosophy at the time.
It is a slow process even though all fans are impatient. I see those serviceable street FAs are slowly phasing out by draft picks (Pears, Jones has Graham right behind him). Maybe that happens with coaches too. Who knows. They jumped on Wannstedt when he became available.
I would still take Meachem on the Bills, they need a deep threat and Meachem fits that profile. I don't know what the problem is in SD, he's only started 3 games and been targeted only 32 times, That's only 4 more than TJ Graham, he's only dropped 1 pass. He's not a #1 WR that's going to get you 80+ receptions, but he's a deep threat when on the field and defenses have to respect that. He's probably not worth the money that the Bills offered him, but at a cheaper price, I'd take him. It's not like our receiving corps is so talented that he couldn't land a spot and contribute.
Without question, this franchise loves trotting out borderline starters.
So they put a reasonable offer to a marginal guy that was better than what we had on the roster but weren't willing to over pay for him. And that makes them bad talent evaluators?
