Only one year removed from 15+ sacks

What about him playing OLB? Possible? I would claim him and see where he fits

He must be hurt.

He must be hurt.
The Eagles have never really liked older players. He's 32 now, so he's not part of their future and they said they want to see what they have in their younger guys.

Claim him off of waivers. Mark Anderson blows.

He is a guy who can rush the passer, but that is all he wants to do. Would be worth picking up as a 3rd down rusher, and his remaining salary for the year is all it would cost ($1,639,706) for the rest of this year if claimed on waivers.

He's basically Mark Anderson. Pass rush only guy.

Claim him and IR Kelsey.

I heard both Reed & Babin on Sirius tonight. Andy said he wanted to play the young guys to see what they had & Babin said Andy probably did him a favor because he was not in their plans for next year. He has a 3 year contract after this year for any team that claims him.

Heard Hugh Douglas talk about him on ESPN radio. In essence, Douglas maintains Babin quit on the team and on Andy Reid after Reid and the Eagles signed him and essentially resurrected his career. Douglas is a former defensive end and former Philadelphia Eagle. He probably knows what he's talking about. If Douglas is right, it's definitely buyer beware for any team interested in Babin.

we already have Jason Babin...he's wearing that Merriman jersey. And if we picked up Babin we might have to part with Kirk Morrison..and we've seen how much playing time he's gotten and how productive he's been this year.

The Eagles are the only team as ****ed up as the Bills are right now...let's try to stay away from their retreads.

Sorry about the last post. Just really annoyed and frustrated with the Bills right now.

Mark Anderson 1st down
Shawne Merriman 2nd down
Jason Babin 3rd down

The all pass rush specialist DLine.

I don't think he would even show up to Buffalo.

Jason Babin 3rd down

The all pass rush specialist DLine.

I bet they still wouldn't generate any sacks.

So they signed him last year, he quit on them, but then went out and got 18 sacks and 3 FF's for them? That doesn't really make sense.

If the Bills did claim Babin, he has three years left on his contract. He is due, 4,225,000 in 2013, 6,000,000 in 2014, and 6,000,000 in 2015. Definitely worth the price in my opinion. He is really good pass rusher in a 4-3 defense.

Ian Rapoport ‏<s>@</s>RapSheet (https://twitter.com/RapSheet) Well, Jason Babin got claimed. So that's something. Not sure where <s>#</s>halfthepuzzle (https://twitter.com/search?q=%23halfthepuzzle&src=hash)

Shouldnt Philly have maybe moved this guy earlier and got some compensation? 8 teams.... bad management.

It's hard to figure. I guess after they cut him, PHI owed some big money. Ah well - sports contracts are beyond byzantine, so who knows?

SquishDaFish

Phi owed him nothing once they cut him. But being claimed Jax has to pay the 1.something owed this year and pick up his remaining 4+ next and 6+ for the final 2 years

Buffalo did claim Babin also ....
Ian Rapoport ‏<s>@</s>RapSheet (https://twitter.com/RapSheet) I was told 8 teams claimed Babin. According to NFL's notice (per <s>@</s>AlbertBreer (https://twitter.com/AlbertBreer)) I was wrong: Buffalo, Jacksonville, Washington claimed him

If they had cut him one week later, likely after we lost to Jacksonville, he would have been a Bill.

JAX is the 7th team he's played for since he was a rookie in 2004. Whatta guy.

6th. He was with the Eagles twice.

No doubt Babin has his warts, but he had 30.5 sacks and 5 forced fumbles in his previous two full seasons. He wasn't having as good a season this year, but he still had 5.5 sacks and 2 forced fumbles in 11 games. He isn't a full-time player, but as a pass rush specialist he has real value. It is a prized skill.

He got his 18 sacks in 2011. It's now 2012. Douglas thinks he quit on them this season, which is why the Eagles dumped him.

The issue with Babin has always been off the field, he's not a great locker room guy and that's why he's bounced around so much. Not sure why Jacksonville grabbed him but Im sure we'll see him on Sunday now.

Didn't 90% of the roster quit?

Twice with SEA, too. Quite the peripatetic.

Look like Babin will be playing quite a bit this weekend against the Bills:

Babin might even start over Austen Lane, who missed practice Wednesday with a foot injury and is expected to sit out again Thursday.

"Let's start working him in the plan and see what we have to do to get him up to speed as quickly as we can," Mularkey said. "Can he play Sunday? Yes. I know he will. We're anticipating him playing."
