This time, it's the December 28th game against the Lake Erie Monsters that will be at the First Niagara Center. Game time set for 7:05pm.

Price structure:

100 Preferred and 200 Club $25
100 Level II and III $20
300 Level $15

A family pack is also available....4 tickets, 4 hot dogs, 4 sodas, and 4 popcorn for $79.

(And, as it turns out, I'm heading to the game with my brother and nephew; they have the tickets and I have a voucher that will be turned in; the Amerks were running a holiday promotion...2 tix to that game, 4 vouchers to use for any game(s), and a knit hat for $59.)

If only people had nuts and didn't go to support any pro hockey.

The AHL is NOT the problem. The NHL IS.

I'd rather see people not support the NHL in any way once they get their heads screwed on and get the deal done.

Yeah. Just because the NHL can't get it together means that the AHL should be boycotted.

That post is a stupid post.

And who owns the Rochester Americans?

Whatever you say sheep.

I know full well who owns the Amerks.

Right now, I'll take what I can get, considering that with the NHL we have TWO bunches of whiny little *****es who can't even do a decent job of negotiations.

Really? Pegula has owned the team for less than two years. He's the junior owner of the 30. Bettman was hired LONG before his ownership and the problematic CBA that led to this work stoppage was signed long before his ownership.

And Pegula has openly said that money isn't a factor when signing players, and has put his money where his mouth is (he may not have spent wisely, but he absolutely did spend on players in the one off-season he had).

Do you REALLY think Pegula had much, if anything, to do with this lockout? Do you REALLY think not supporting the Amerks or any other AHL team is going to hurt the NHL or help end the lockout?

The last person I blame for this lockout is Pegula.

But he has spent all this money and the team is not winning....

Never said any such thing. I said I wish everyone would stay away from pro hockey or anything and anyone that has anything to do with the NHL. Going to a Rochester Americans game in First Niagara Center is supporting pro hockey in Buffalo. Go see them in Rochester.

Then, by your logic, any AHL game played in an NHL venue is supporting pro hockey in that city. (Hamilton and Hershey, among others, have played games in their parent team's arenas.)

Get real.

The flaw in your logic is saying that supporting pro hockey in Buffalo is the same as supporting the NHL. It's not. The problem isn't pro hockey in general- the problem is the NHL owners and the NHLPA. People want to see pro hockey in Buffalo because they like pro hockey. The Sabres aren't playing right now, so the Amerks did exactly what should be done in a capitalist society: step up and fill the market void.

And one more thing on this: showing support for non-Sabres pro hockey in Buffalo is a GOOD thing.

First, it shows the Sabres that they are losing money and that it's in their interest to get a deal done.

Second, should the league have to fold or ends up on extended hiatus, it shows that the support will be there for alternatives to the Sabres. That puts pressure on the Sabres and the league, and encourages potential investors in an alternative, if it should come to that.

It is quite obvious my level of pissed off is more than yours.

These things have become far too common- especially in the NHL.

The other thing tempering my anger is that the Sabres weren't exactly poised to make a run this year. They were headed for another year of being a bubble team as far as making the playoffs, and a very likely first-round exit if they snuck in.

Of course there's still NFL football 3 nights a week and ND still has to play in the national championship game. After that, I'll find myself sitting around with nothing to watch, and then I'll be really pissed off.

Every year, I say I'm going to start following college hoops after the New Year so I can make good tourney picks, and every year I get distracted and don't do it. Without hockey to distract me, maybe this is the year I'll actually pay attention.
