Demands at cornerback and offensive line due to injury forced the Bills hand again on Wednesday. Two days removed from releasing veteran LB Kirk Morrison, Buffalo cleared another roster spot by moving veteran DE Chris Kelsay to injured reserve. The club then promoted CB T.J. Heath and G Keith Williams from the practice squad to the active roster.

NO biggie. Kyle Moore has been playing well.

They should have put Mark Anderson on IR weeks ago.

Meanwhile, Tarvaris Jackson and Mark Anderson will still be inactive.

Sigh...

Kelsay has been solid Bill during his years.

I believe this is the end of the line for Kelsay, I bet now that we end with a winning record..... (half kidding here)

Kelsay has been solid Bill during his years.

He's had his moments, but it still blows my mind that 3 consecutive GM's coaches re-signed this guy while letting a lot of better players walk.

Doesn't he have like two years left on his deal?

Doesn't he have like two years left on his deal?

Yeah, but I doubt he ever sees them unless he takes a paycut. Given the contracts given to Williams and Anderson, Kelsay is a backup now. With salaries of $3.725M next year and $3.745M the year after there is no way they bring him back unless he cuts his salary to match his role.

Has Kelsay EVER been good?

Has Kelsay EVER been good?
Good? no.

Serviceable? Yes.

He's another backup that several FO's have tried to force into a starting role despite having backup-level talent.

Has Kelsay EVER been good?

He should have never started and given such a prominent role on the team. He made some plays over the years but he left as many on the field by not being good enough or not being disciplined (never set the edge like he should have)

I could see Kelsay being a cap casualty this year in order to re-sign guys like Byrd and Levitre. With the emergence of Kyle Moore I don't think Kelsay has enough value to justify his cap number.

Just off the top of my head, here is a list of guys that we've let walk or traded since Kelsay has been here: Nate Clements, Jonas Jennings, Jim Leonard, Takeo Spikes, Paul Posluzny, London Fletcher, Lee Evans, Jason Peters, Brian Moorman. I know there are others but those are the major ones, and pretty much all of them except Evans went on to be at least decent with other teams.

Now, I'm not saying we should have kept all these guys. I didn't even want to keep all of them (especially not Poz, before justa jumps in and reminds everybody), and some of them had extenuating circumstances. I'm simply saying that I don't see the logic in getting rid of all these guys while keeping Kelsay. It's mind-boggling.

Hairston to I-R; Bills sign OT Scott

Already ruled out of Sunday’s game against the Rams and considered unlikely for the Bills Week 15 game against the Seahawks, it was hoped that Chris Hairston would have a chance to play in Buffalo’s final two regular season games. That hope was dashed on Thursday as the team placed Hairston on season-ending injured reserve with an ankle injury.

The guy to watch is Moore. If he keeps up what he's doing, the Bills are very likely to sign him before the end of season, which would spell the end of the Kelsay. It would be ideal to go into the offseason with Mario, Mark Anderson, and Moore as signed DEs, leaving one spot open for potential draftee, another Moore type of FA to battle out.

and to think we could have drafted Osi Umenyiora instead of Kelsay.
