I read the thread title. I figured you meant this was currently what you thought the roster would be in 2013.

Byrd will be tagged if they cannot reach a long term deal. Levitre, who knows what will happen.

Lots of garbage on this team, lots of free agents as well.

No thanks. The Bills will be the same crap again next year. No way they sniff playoffs.

First and foremost...Gailey and Co need to go. This coaching staff blows. I've seen enough of Gailey's pop-gun offense and Wannstadt still is mostly clueless. Start fresh with a young, hungry staff that can work with the roster we have (read-NO switching back to a 34).

Positional analysis--

Quarterback-This group is an absolute trainwreck. Fitzpatrick has devolved to a point where he can't even be counted on to help a team win a game even with a somewhat dominating performance by the defense. Thigpen is so bad, he can't replace the dud in front of him. Smith should be removed from the group altogether. TJax, whether it's his doing or not, has used 2012 to perpetrate the NFL equivalent of welfare fraud. Unfortunately if Gailey stays, Fitz probably does also. Not sure about the rule without looking it up, but it's iffy whether they can even renegotiate his contract again this soon, so it's either pay him or cut him loose completely. Thigpen and Smith should both be gone. TJax? Would like to know what the real story is behind him, but I wouldn't expect him to stick around as opposed to testing FA. Honestly, it wouldn't break my heart if we started from scratch with this crew.

Running Back-Spiller is obviously the future. Freddie may have hit the wall and/or become too injury prone. Choice is what he is, a third-stringer, and that's all he'll ever be.

Wide Receiver-Still a major need. SJ is starting material, but not the stud/go-to-guy every teams need. Jones has played better than expected but is still run-of-the-mill. That pair certainly is no Cruz-Nicks. Nelson's injury hurt the team, hopefully he returns completely healthy. Graham may become a Don Beebe type, but he'll probably never settle in as a solid one or two, and he needs somebody with an arm to hope to achieve that much. Easley's time has run out, Martin is a waste of a roster spot...1 or 2 ST plays per season just doesn't justify it. I think B.Smith gets cut.

Tight End-Chandler is a good. Smith is a decent back-up and blocker. Dickerson really hasn't done anything to warrant keeping him, and Caussin will at least get one more shot to stay healthy.

Fullback-McIntyre isn't bad, and a leader on ST's. Could do worse, don't thing doing better would really make any difference in today's league.

Tackle-Glenn has done much better than I expected, he's going to be a stud. Pears is, at best, serviceable. Would be nice if Hairston or Sanders really stepped up and took hold of RT next season. Young has played decent when asked to fill in. Brown and Scott? Meh...

Guard-This entire group depends on what happens in FA. I honestly expect Levitre to bolt for bigger money and a better team. Urbik and Rhinehart will probably stay. Snow has a little value as b/u center, Williams is a warm body.

Center-Wood's injuries are too much of a concern, and then there is...well...nobody. Eric is decent, but it would be really nice if we could get a mauler and move him back to G. If not, for the love of Bills football, SIGN A G-DAMN LEGIT B/U CENTER, BECAUSE EW WILL GET HURT AGAIN.

Kicker-Lindell is solid on FG's inside 50, but inspires no confidence on longer attempts and his KO's suck. Maybe time for a younger leg.

Punter-Powell? Hmmph...hasn't been great or terrible, probably worth keeping around and see how he develops.

Longsnapper--Sanborn is good.

Defensive End-M.Williams is settling in. Moore may be a pleasant surprise. Kelsay is decent depth, Anderson should stick with situational pass-rushing, Merriman probably rides into the sunset.

Defensive Tackle-Dareus and K.Williams are studs. Johnson and Carrington are both good rotational guys and have made the occasional play. Troup's a wild card, but is quickly becoming the Marcus Easley of the d-line.

Outside Linebacker-Bradham has done well. IMO, it's no coincidence that the defense started playing better when he and Moore were inserted as starters. Barnett is too limited and a little old. Moats' time has run out. Scott is OK depth and specialist...C.White is a waste of a roster spot.

Inside Linebacker-Sheppard is OK and would make nice depth, but if Te'o is there for us in the draft I would snatch him and kick Kelvin's ass to the curb before the next team made it to the podium.

Cornerback-Gilmore will become lock-down. Brooks will get better, he's a player. Move Williams to safety. McGee's age and injuries have passed him by, let alone caught up with him. I expect McKelvin to get a decent contract elsewhere, and that may save Roger's spot on the roster. I don't even know who the hell Butler and Heath are.

Strong Safety-Time for Wilson pass on some PT, maybe to Williams. Or even Searcy.

Free Safety-Byrd will be tagged. Silva is a warm body. As long as Jarius stays healthy and happy, he will only continue to get better.

I like this! Well done.

I agree on all.

Te'o or Ogletree (at OLB) in the 1st. If not I'd take a chance on Geno Smith. I wouldn't mind Wilson is a trade up to the bottom of round 1 or trading down to there. But, I don't want him before the 15 pick. Just me.

In the rest of the rounds I'd like a big WR, OLB or ILB based on what we did in the 1st 2 rounds, SS. And depth at C, OG, and/or TE

I'd like to add a youngster to take Scott's job. The new breed of LB'er than DB spoke of is what we should be looking for. A guy like Ogletree may be able to take his role anyway.

OK, here we go....really don't know where to start with the QB's especially because there are so many variables that could factor in so for a start I'm going to go with the worst case scenario and assume Gailey and Co talk their way into one more season....

Italics = Releases or FA losses. Bold = spots needing upgrade.

That's 50 spots, with 3 open for wiggle-room (6 CBs or WRs? A 4th G if Levitre leaves?) or (shudder!) ST 'aces' like Martin or White to stick to the team.

Part of this is what I think will happen, part of it what I hope to see. Obviously I have Levitre and McKelvin bolting for greener pastures. I think B.Smith gets cut to make room for another position. QB is so ****ed up it's hard to try to nail anything down, but if Gailey stays and they use a high pick on a rookie, neither he or Thigpen are probably going anywhere (wouldn't break my heart if they did...I'd be fine with cutting ties, signing TJax and re-working the whole unit.)

It's time to use picks on younger guys to replace Choice (and eventually FJax), Lindell, and possibly even Barnett. A vet center and CB in FA would be nice. Don't think they'll do much on Dline, unless someone becomes a cap casualty. Obviously we still need LBers. And a WR. Sanders (OT) is going to have to play well enough to overcome Young's versatility or beat out Pears or Hairston if he's going to get a spot. Would like to see A.Williams moved to safety, but if he doesn't hopefully they snag one in FA or the draft.

Wilson, Barnett and Jones going out the door opens up three more holes to fill...lotsa turnover happening this off-season. They may not be a major player in FA name and dollar-wise like last season, but they are going to have to be in sheer numbers.

how is ruvell martin still on this team but donald jones was not kept. assinine. "oh he covers on kicks." we can have rookies and guys hungry to do that job.

Donald jones was excellent with an innaccurate QB. When an accurate pass came his way, he was a lethal threat to take it the distance as he did in the New England game.

I hate this team's thought process on nearly every single thing it does.

You messed up on the Scott re-signing and if you shift him to SS/LB and your need at SS is almost filled as I would still bring in a guy as an UDFA. Also if you move A Williams to your backup FS that hole is filled.

I've got Scott on the team, but DB noted he would dump him. He is kind of difficult to plug into a depth chart...he could be listed as a SS, but I agree would still want to bring in another body. Also agree that moving AW to FS would fill that hole.

I would resign Moore but otherwise meh.

Wow look at that great roster and yet we're still only in the middle of the pack in available cap space. What's worse if you take that 18 million dollars(before the McKelvin signing) it's even less when you consider our cash to cap strategy. After we sign anybody and add in their signing bonus to this year instead of spreading it out that doesn't leave anything left behind.

It just blows my mind how bad this team is ran and yet we keep the same bums running the show. The only huge big guaranteed money player we have signed is Mario Williams and he is the highest paid defensive player in the history of the NFL and the 2nd highest paid in the NFL behind Flacco. All that and he is not even the best player in the NFL at his position let alone out of all the defensive players in the NFL.

The rest sizable contracts on the team is a market value contract for Stevie Johnson and a horrible 20+ million in guaranteed money to Fitzpatrick and then some smaller ones like Kyle Williams. All of this excluding the rookie contracts which every team has. All the rest of the money is tied up in average/below average players making millions that wouldn't be starters on most(if any) other teams in the NFL and then 4 million a year for guys like Brad Smith and his couple plays a game. We can't forget about our newly re-signed #3 CB for 5 million a year too.

This front office couldn't manage a mom and pops restaurant budget let alone an NFL franchise budget and be a competitive team at the same time. One of the ugliest rosters in the NFL yet we're looking for cap space just to keep guys like Byrd and Levitre who actually contribute. That's what happens when you have a front office that can't draft correctly and you keep giving millions to average players instead of using the money more wisely. When you have a roster made of up mostly average players let alone average coaches on the sideline you're going to keep putting an average product on the field. All of that equates to an average record every season and that's why we win 5-7 games every year.

Everybody not bolded is either on their rookie contract, minimum tenders or UDFA's contracts (which are cheap), and one could even argue that TJax, Urbik and B.Scott's new contracts are more than reasonable.

CB, S, ILB and DE on defense. QB, 3rd RB, FB, WR, TE and G on offense. A new or specialist PK would be nice also. That's 10-11 positions that need to be filled with 6 picks and FA's, unless somebody from the current roster steps up big time (Brown or K.Williams at G, for example). If Williams isn't moved to safety, they may feel pretty comfortable at CB also, although I would disagree with that sentiment.

So BB.com has an updated roster and depth chart with Lawson on it...

What's interesting is Ron Brooks is listed as the backup SS!

I'd think it's just a mistake but the rest of the depth chart looks good.

Jesus Christ, I've seen milk cartons with pictures of missing kids on the back that were less depressing than our roster.

Unless God parts the clouds on draft day and personally blesses us with 6 saviors at 6 different positions, this team is headed for the bottom of the manure pile.

It's going to be a real tough sell convincing me this team is capable of winning more than 2 games. And that's when you know you're ****ed. A 3-13 record should never sound like an insurmountable hurdle.

But here we are...

Early prognosis?

we suck.

Suck doesn't even begin to describe it.

We're the North Korea of football. Our roster is a desolate wasteland. Our leaders inspire only a bizarre mix of pity and bitterness. But most importantly, all objective outsiders know it's going to end badly for us.

But apart from telegraphing a QB pick, we can pretty much select BPA every round. Chances are he'll match up with a need.

Yeah, that's the only good part about a roster this crappy. The BPA vs drafting for need argument becomes irrelevant because we need basically everything except DL and RB.

Well, Freddy is about done and look for CJ to get bored with losing and start sabotaging his career here. I'd put RB on the back burner. :-)

64 on the roster, figure 2 spots for camp fodder kickers = 66, 6 draft picks = 72, still 18 spots to fill before camp.

Would still like to see them bring in a WR, TE, a corner, maybe a guard and safety at the very least.
