As a fan I feel that there is little reward to having a winning season that falls flat on its back. Remember all of those Eagles teams that did everything but go to a SB? They were referred as the Bills JR team because they went to 4 straight NFC championship games and when they finally went to the SB they lost. This is clearly a QB league and the difference between having a top 5 QB and anyone else is drastic. In fact, only top 5 HOF Caliber QBs have won a SB in the last 28 out of 30 years and most of those quys were 1st rounders! History shows that guys like McNab, Flaco, Rivers, Romo, Vick, Matt Haselback, Matt Schaub, Vinny Testaverde, Daunte Culpepper, Rich Gannon, Steve McNair etc... Never win the Big one. Most of these QBs were Pro Bowlers at one point or another and some of them might be HOF however being 6th best QB is not enough to win the big one.

Even HOF like Jim Kelly, Dan Marino, Randel Cunningham, Warren Moon, Sonny Jergensen, Dan Fouts, Frank Tarkenton, Boober Esiasen, failed to win the Big one!

What does this all mean to Bills fans?
Unless the Bills draft a top 5 QB in the next few years, chances are the Bills will not win a SB anytime soon. They might win a few games here or there and at best the Bills might become like those Eagles that were just a few plays away from an SB.

Solution:
There are two ways about it. One the Bills earn the top pick in the draft when a great QB prospect is available. This will have to be someone who can compete with the Lucks, RG3s, Cams, of the world. A Geno Smith simply wont get you there! (assuming of course). This will have to be someone like Johnny Football, a top tier once in a generation player. The second way is Luck! Somehow you draft the next Brady in the later rounds or pick up the next Kurt Warner from NFL Chine (jk)

My Simple Prediction:
The Last 12 years have been about 3 different QBs: Brady, Eli Manning, & Rothlisberger winning multiple SBs and 3 more HOF QBs winning one each: P. Manning, Brees, and Rogers. Once this generation is over, the next dominating QBs will be the Luck, Wilson, RG3, Cam, etc... if we dont have a QB by then, our fate will be sealed.
