Did he going work a raise and extension out of this like most college coaches do when they flirt with the NFL?

He's likely never gonna be an NFL Head Coach now.

He can enjoy being in Oregon when the sanctions come down.

Nah...it just opens a different opportunity. There is now interest in Marc Trestman.

I've stated for years I've wanted to give that guy an opportunity at the head coaching job either here or in Cleveland.

Browns looking like a jilted prom date. Still, we will see who gets the last laugh this time next season.

Ya know, I've heard a lot of Trestman talk and praise, but know nothing of the guy. If he didn't make it to a HC job, would he be a suitable OC? I have looked up his history but I'm not going to pretend I know his work.

He was in Cleveland in 1988 and 1989 as QB coach and offensive coordinator both years the Browns made the playoffs
He left Cleveland went to Minnesota for 2 years and did nothing really of note.
Came back to be the QB coach/OC of the 49ers in 95-96. The 49ers lead the league in scoring and passing his first year there.
Went to the Lions in 97 as the QB Coach. Scott Mitchell threw for almost 3500 yards.
98-00 He was the Cardinals OC and QB Coach. Plummer lit it up and they went to the playoffs for the first time in 20 some years in his first year.
01-03 He was with the Raiders, first as QB coach and then promoted to OC. 02 Gannon lit the league up, won the MVP and they lost to the Bucs in the Superbowl.
04 He ended up in Miami and then he decided to go back to College and then to the Alouettes. He started off being Bernie Kosar's QB Coach at Miami in 83.

I don't know what it is about him that he bounces around so much which is a concern but he's been successful at almost every stop he's made be it NFL, CFL or NCAA so he must be doing something right.

Lovie will go to the Browns

Only two guys I see the Browns have interest in now that they haven't interviewed yet are Trestman and Arians.

Lovie was not interviewed by Cleveland.

I was just sticking to his NFL experiences and where he started.

He had a college stop in between being the Dolphins OC and Montreal.

Did he going work a raise and extension out of this like most college coaches do when they flirt with the NFL?

he had 5 years remaining on his deal, no need for an extension or a pay raise...

I think he came to the same conclusion i would, that the Browns don't have the parts needed to succeed, and the eagles are a trainwreck of a mismatch. The bills likely wouldn't come close to the money either, so he probably just figured after examining the rosters and the offers his career would likely be much more secure staying in college at the moment, as clearly neither teams matched what he wanted.

After what's he done, he may not get another NFL interview at least not one anytime in the near future.

even then, i think they're just letters of "intent" not commitment, they can change their minds until they're offically registered as students, and recieve scholarship funding

Yeah, because the SEC does not allow teams to flagrantly violate NCAA rules.

They're binding. Unless the school lets prospects out of them (and in extreme cases, they do). I think last year, Rutgers lost a few assistants to Schiano/Tampa Bay after NSD, but let a couple of kids out of their LOI's afterward.
