All: The new Billszone site with the updated software is scheduled to be turned on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. The company that built it, Dynascale, estimates a FOUR HOUR shut down, from 8pm Pacific, (5pm Eastern) while they get it up and running. Nobody will be able to post in any forum until they are done. Afterwards, you may need to do a web search for the site, as old links will not work, because the site is getting a new IP address. Please be patient. If there are bugs, we will tackle them one at a time. Remember the goal is to be up and running with no glitches by camp. Doing this now assures us of that, because it gives us all summer to get our ducks in a row. Thank you!
I can't imagine that all of the veterans are going to buy into Marrone's system, which if that happens, is not going to be a good model for the younger guys. I know we're a relatively young team which is what Marrone needs but this has boom or complete bust written all over it.

I guess I should have specifically addressed the offense, since that's what your OP was, but I'm not real worried about that. I do wonder if it will be effective, but Marrone's offense isn't what you might call a "college" offense. It's main elements are from pro offenses.

if you don't have doubts after 13 years of this you're smokin something. doesn't mean I don't have hope, but way more doubts. I certainly hope Marrone has what it takes to be a great NFL coach.
My faith doesn’t make me perfect, it makes me forgiven.
I believe it's way too early to think about stuff like this. Too many factors are yet to be determined, not least of which will be QB. We might also see other offensive additions, in the form of a WR, that would also have an effect, especially if it's a FA.
The offense that Marrone designed for the Saints, is much more likely to be the sort of thing we will see, rather than the Syracuse version.
Even that, is only 'likely'. Marrone has shown he is prepared to switch things around, when he went to a more up-tempo offense, with Syracuse last season, which was only decided upon, apparently, a few weeks prior to their season starting.
There are a lot of ways that Marrone might jump, from an offensive 'system' standpoint, but I feel that he's going to come up with something that will stand up, in terms of being both acceptable, and successful, in the NFL.
If you want a starting point for what he might implement, then I think you could look at how the 2006 Saints used Bush and Mccallister. McCallister had over 1000 yds rushing, and Bush close to 600. Bush had a load more yards receiving as well though. I would expect that Marrone can come up with a way of utilizing Spiller and Jackson much more effectively, than has been the case with Gailey.
