    Lynn Leads and Teaches

Coaching is apparently something that gets in the blood. It circulates throughout the body and the brain and drives certain people to become leaders and teachers. Raiders defensive backs coach Ron Lynn has coaching in his blood. He has been leading and teaching football players for 37 years, the last 20 of which have been in the professional ranks. Lynn began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at the University of Toledo while earning his master's degree in education. Lynn then was defensive coordinator and secondary coach at his alma mater from 1967-73 before moving on to Kent State, where he served in the same capacity from 1974-76.
"I wanted to coach because of the coaches I had in high school and in college. They were men of integrity and men who were highly motivated. In addition, they were teachers who made you want to do your very best at whatever you did," Lynn explained. "Growing up and going to school in Ohio, in a place and time where athletics were important to the town in which you lived, required that the coaches were men that had earned the respect of the community and the academic world as well."
