Seau's family looking to send a message or cash in?

Outside of my lack of sympathy for people who commit suicide...

    Let the legal battle begin!

this is THE trial that can start the death of the NFL.

The family of Junior Seau is suing the NFL after Seau died from a self-inflicted gun shot which the family says was a result of the chronic tramatic encephalopathy he developed from playing in NFL.

Either way, you can bet the NFL will install a whole bunch of new "safety measures" that will pacify the game and make it boring.

And you know other contact sports leagues like the UFC and NHL are paying attention as well. If the NFL is found liable, it will create a precedent and mean they could potentially be found liable at some point as well.

I think you know where I stand. Concussions are serious and permanent brain damage. Now it seems even smaller hits to the head can lead to similar damage if the hits are repeated consistently for years. This isn't an NFL problem, it's a contact sport problem. And it's going to get worse for every sport.

People don't want to see their heros punchy at 50. It makes the sport unpalatable if fans know the players face a lifetime of mental disabilities.

When NE's RB was knocked out this past weekend, you saw the tonic posturing.

I thought of your post when it happened.

The NFL didn't force Seau to play for 20 years.

If they deliberately ignored or concealed evidence of CTE, then his family might have a case. Personally, I don't think they did, we're still today just learning about it.

THE trial already started (well the lawsuit). Its the class action by a few hundred ex-NFL'ers.

What about the one's Seau concealed himself? Is the NFL responsible for those?

If he lied about his symptoms or s/t? No, that would be pretty damaging to his case.

We will never know but there are examples of players not talking to trainers about their injuries for fear of losing playing time.

Maybe, maybe not. There might have been someone he was honest with.

As of now CTE can only be diagnosed at autopsy.

UCLA is doing studies to come up with a marker but I think it's a ways away.

I have had 3 concussions; 1 playing football, 1 on a field during recess, and another playing rec basketball (kicked hard in the head). Can I sue the schools? That'd be great!
