I suspect there could also be a free agent addition at the position too. One that is well versed in Mike Pettine’s system.

So when we sign Landry from the Jets to an expensive contract, how many of you see this coming:

Yesterday's holes: QB, WR, LB
Today's holes: QB, WR, LB, S
sign S Landry to big contract
Nix: We caint fill evry hole at once, ya see. There's something here called the salary kaep. We're real excited about bringing in Landry to fill a big hole for our defense.
draft: CB Rd 1. (TE 2, LB 3, WR 4, QB 5)
Nix: I don't know how many times I have to tell you. We take the best guy on our board. Anything else's asking for trouble.

BB article on TJ Graham "emerging" on the outside in minicamp
BB article on Sheppard "making strides" in year 3.
Season starts.
6-10.

Landry would be the first mean guy on this defense.

We need one or two of those.

Awesome, we get a "mean" safety instead of a .. philanthropic one? Then OBD and apparently a few posters here call it good. :chuckle:

I'd take Landry but I'd want him at 4 mil or less... That was what his 1 year deal with the Jets was for.

They've got so many holes to fill they aren't going to be able to afford to throw big money at anybody this FA period, especially if they plan on trying to keep some of their own.

i don't think that the plan is to sign Landry.

The plan is to play Searcy.

Id have to agree, id be surprised if we paid 4 mill a year to replace Searcy, who saw more and more time last year. Id really like to know the plan for replacing Barnett though...draft?

i think if we land Landry and keep byrd, we might just have the best saftey duo in the league

I'm OK with the Landry signing if it means there's a ballhawk, a type of bird, if you will, playing beside him. Did I spell bird correctly? I'll have to check my spelling..

I thought both Landry and Byrd played SS. No? If not, a Landry/Bird backfield would be sweet.

oaf pretty much nailed next season. what he may have missed was the the bills will start that 6-10 season0-9. then turn it on with a 6-1 back 7. optimism runs high as they gut the only performing guys from the first marrone season. we hear that we need to get younger. kelsay is promoted to QB coach.

that is the complete picture of how the season plays out.

According to www.rotoworld.com (http://www.rotoworld.com), Landry Jones is looking for $6 million per year.
That's about what Jairus Byrd would fetch with a franchise tag.

It's hard to imagine us dolling out in excess of $12 million just for our starting safeties, but you never know.

Oops.
Yeah, I think Landry Jones would suck at safety.

They'll pass on Landry if he's looking for $6mil per, unless they can really massage the numbers.

$6m is not a lot for a top 15 starting safety right?

Yeah, I think Landry Jones would suck at safety.

Which is exactly why we will over pay for him and move him out of position
