ALLEN PARK -- Even when he repeats the same lines -- that he has no intention of ending his retirement and returning to the NFL -- running back Barry Sanders' words still fascinate a wide spectrum of sports fans and media.
Sanders reiterated -- again -- his intention to remain retired in an interview Wednesday on ESPN.
Sanders, who retired on the eve of training camp in 1999 after 10 seasons with the Lions, said he misses the competition of playing on Sunday.
"If there is any part I do miss, it is Sundays, playing," Sanders said. "Competition is the part that is a little bit strange not to have. With having 10 years of play, having played in the NFL, I don't go through any withdrawals from not playing."
