View Full Version : Martz Stays Busy During Offseason With Charitable Endeavors

While much is known about St. Louis Rams' Head Coach Mike Martz's involvement on the football field, his numerous charitable efforts are not as well known. This off-season he has been active in causes ranging from Alzheimer's research and funding to hosting a coaching clinic for more than 700 high school football coaches from Missouri and Illinois.

Coach Martz's busy off-season began in February at the St. Louis Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society Celebrity Sports Dinner. His involvement helped raise more than $300,000 for research to fight the disease.

On March 5, 2003, Coach Martz was presented the Staples Coach of the Week Award at Windsor High School for his team's 28-13 victory over the Oakland Raiders on October 13. He spoke at an assembly at the school about how he became a head coach and stressed the importance of staying in school. While Staples presented the school with a $5,000 gift certificate to purchase school supplies, Coach Martz added his own donation of $10,000 creating a total of $15,000....
