If..and again I say IF...the Bills trade back into Round 1 to get a QB, (not endorsing it, calm down).. this should be the guy with the great athletic ability, size and film that shows improvement every year. Would seem to fit what Marrone/Hackett want. Will he last until early Round 2 ? Teams always overpick QB's.

Round 1 picks also sign for an extra year (5) in the new CBA, which is a smart angle for a QB you may like. Their 2nd contract could be huge if they're any good and the initial rookie deals are now very reasonable.

The 1st pick at #8 should be one of those 3 LT's, if Levitre walks. You do not pass on quality like that. Then you can gamble, if so inclined.

Find your LB's and WR's in FA.

I would love E.J. with our second pick , but I think we will have to trade up to around 24 to get him

You wrote about picking a left tackle in another thread, and I already disagreed with you there, so I have no reason to rehash that. We just disagree, that's all. Manuel does seem to be moving up, and I've always been intrigued by him. He's not a perfect QB, nobody is close to that this year, not compared to last year, but I could see him being regarded as a mid first round value by the time the draft rolls around.

I'm still torn on EJ Manuel. I've been a Seminoles fan my entire life and although he's talented I'm not completely sold on him yet. I wasn't sold on Ponder for years and was surprised he went as high as he did in the draft. So far he has only been an average QB at best and was picked far higher in the draft then he should've been. He was more of a late first/second round talent which has been proven with Kapernick going in the second and even Dalton outperforming him.

Manuel has a lot of athletic ability and has a decent arm and accuracy. If he ends up in the right system he may be decent but if he isn't used right then he won't be. The way the NFL offenses are transforming into more of a college type system may help his case. He did more then just run the ball in college though but wasn't spectacular passing either. If the pistol spread turns into a fad similar to the Wild Cat he could be in trouble though. With that said I would probably take a chance on him with our 2nd round pick if he's still available. He should be there unless some team jumps on him looking for the next Kapernick or poor mans RJ3.

Either way two of the top 5 QB's should be available when it's our turn to draft in the 2nd round. If they think their guy will be gone and we don't draft one in the 1st then they could always trade up several spots to make sure they get their guy. It wouldn't cost too much to move up from #40 to the end of the 1st/early second.

I like Manuel on film, and I would be satisfied if we came out of the draft with him as our quarterback.

But passing on a QB in the first just makes me nervous.
We've played this game 2 years in a row and people end up picking the player we want head of us.

I don't care what the mock drafts say, all of these quarterbacks aren't going to make it to us in the 2nd.
Other QB needy teams are already picking ahead of us, and they also have the ability to trade up.

If he's not sporting the Billy Dee Williams pornstache anymore, I think his value drops into the third round.

he reminds me of a slower Kaepernick who I wanted us to draft .

I just cant buy on a guy who struggles at reading defenses. I want the guy who reads defenses better than anyone else because it doesnt matter how athletic or the arm you have, the ability to know where to throw the ball and being a good decision maker matters more to me.

NOT THE DUDE...

if they want to trade back up, then just take a qb at 8. obviously you think he is good enough to start and be a top 12 qb, so just take the risk.

geno smith is a solid pick.

Mayock now has him as the 2nd ranked qb behind Geno Smith

This.

He was in the same offense for 5 years and didn't show any signs of grasping it better. The same bad reads he was making his first year starting he made this year. He never seemed to improve his accuracy, his timing, or his ability to process the game as it happens. And for someone that is widely reported to be a film rat already, that scares the crap out of me.

If we take him, we'll start him before he's ready and he will bust. He needs 1-2 years of sitting on the bench and developing.

Yeah he's a project and I agree with you. I do like him though. I would be fine with us trading down to the end of the 1st and taking him there. But that does leave an opening under center for a year or 2. Maybe sign Drew Stanton?

He's my guy. Been saying it all off season. The game film doesn't lie. Not worth a gamble 8 overall but I wouldn't be mad if the Bills moved up late 1st.

So you would prefer Fitz. It does not matter if the QB knows where to throw the ball if he does not have the arm to get it there.

You can teach an intelligent, motivated guy how to read a defense, you can not teach him to have an NFL arm.

Not a fan of his accuracy/decision making either.

But at least he'll be reunited w/ Zebrie.

A head scratching 8 yard gain.

As a senior, he had a 68% completion rate and an 8.77 YPA. He's got accuracy. Now if he had a high completion rate and a low YPA (meaning short passes), or a low completion rate, I'd agree.

It was already explained that Sanders didn't move because his coaches told him that if the center snaps the ball on the wrong count, which he did, none of the OL should move. Sanders was the only player not penalized by the coach after the game. And if you watch, you can see the RG also not move until a few seconds.

Why?
Don't know. That's what Jimbo Fisher wanted. But the idea that Sanders fell asleep, or didn't know the play, and just stood there, is asinine. But it made good SportsCenter highlights.

Nice call. Credit where it's due. Hate Manuel. There is no way he is a player worthy of the #16 overall selection. But you did call it.

I also agree they should have found LBs (better than they did) and WRs in free agency. FWIW guard Brandon Moore is still available I think.

I'll be honest... if we were to pick him up, I'd feel like we at least addressed every one of our glaring needs that were so readily apparent at the start of free agency. As of now, I'm just not sure how LG is going to pan out.

Moore and Dansby would cap-off a great off-season.

Buddy Nix swears we are set. It will be interesting to see how productive their RBs are with Levitre out and Colin Brown in his place.

Levitre is a good pass-blocker but not a good run-blocker. Probably why he never made even a Pro Bowl.
