ALBANY, N.Y. — New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman urged the NFL on Tuesday to investigate whether possible draft picks were improperly asked about their sexual orientation during the league's combine, which he said would be illegal in New York. "We ask that the league immediately issue a statement that any form of discrimination or harassment on the basis of sexual orientation by league teams or players against potential recruits or players constitutes a violation of state, local and, in some cases, contractor law and will not be tolerated," Schneiderman said in a letter dated Thursday and released to news organizations.

If true, it's complete bull **** that the NFL asks these questions. Someone should lose their job for it.

Discrimination based on Sexual orientation, there happens to be a law against doing it. You'd think that someone's head is going to roll, you'd be right.

I'm guessing this has something to do with Manti Te'o.

There are almost 1700 players in the NFL and it's basically a statistical impossibility that none of them are gay.

But the NFL basically takes a stance of "we don't want gay players but the law says we have to take them, so we'll tolerate it as long as you tell us you're not gay and keep saying that you're not gay until you're no longer employed by us."

This is why no player has ever come out while they were still active in the NFL.

I've heard rumors that the percentage of gay players in the NFL is much higher than the percentage of gays in the general population- possibly as high as 20%. But I don't know what the credibility of that is, and even if it were true, how you'd ever prove it. Even in an anonymous survey, you can't trust people to answer honestly while being part of an organization that has such an anti-gay culture.
