I'd be happy with Smith. I don't know if he'll be any good, but the first QB taken seems to be a 50/50 proposition. Which is much better odds than we've seen in 15 years of trading for, signing and drafting scrubs.

If you're trying to say we traded our Rounds 2-6 picks to get Eiffert. Nope I would hate that. I wouldn't mind Boothe and could live with Doucet but I really would want more as the Bills are about $8m under the cap (factoring rookie cap) and those two guys would take all that away.

Not hope perhaps, but the first signs of intelligent life at OBD in a long time.

If by 1a you mean trading back into the first round, no.

We have 5 major holes and 6 draft picks. While Eiffert would be a nice addition, he doesn't fill one of our biggest needs and it would cost an extra draft pick to trade back up for him. Smith would fill one of the 5 holes, but then we'd only have 3 draft picks left to fill 4 major holes. Even if we bat 1000 we're still only at 75%.

And that assumes we can even get guys in the position that we want. Teams usually go BPA rather than need later in the draft.

So, while it looks nice on paper, the reality of getting it done screws us.

Eifert may be available with our second round pick.
And if he isn't, I'm sure a very good receiver prospect - Justin Hunter, DeAndre Hopkins, Robert Woods - will be instead.

Yet you're perfectly Ok with the Bills giving up picks to trade back into the 1st Round to take Ryan Nassib

Here to point out the obvious....

Yeah I did say that, but I'm starting to rethink it. When I said it, I forgot we only had 6 picks. And I also thought that perhaps the Bills would plug holes in FA instead of sitting there with their thumbs up their asses. So, given that we have so many holes and only 6 picks, trading up for ANYONE isn't really a good idea. I take back what I said previously.

if that's the case, I could live with it.... I'm still not sold on Smith at 8 and Eifert doesn't fill one of our major holes, but it does add talent and it would give smith a target besides Stevie, so we could certainly do worse.
