Eight games into the regular season and with a record of 1𤖫, General Manager Bob Clarke (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bobby_Clarke) resigned and head coach Ken Hitchcock (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ken_Hitchcock) was fired. Assistant coach John Stevens (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Stevens_(ice_hockey)) replaced Hitchcock and assistant general manager Paul Holmgren (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Holmgren) took on Clarke's responsibilities on an interim basis.
