how much would ryan mallett cost in picks?

should we go after ryan mallett if our qb is not there at 8?

or possibly trade for mallett before the draft...? or would you just take tyler wilson?

The top 3-4 quarterbacks in this draft are equal or better then Mallett. Why would the Bills give away picks in later rounds instead of just drafting one of them?

The only way the Patriots would trade Mallett to a division rival is if they know he will suck or if they get more for him than what he is worth.

not thanks to pats trash anymore. they only succeed there because they cheat and when the players leave they suck or are just average.

i'm fine not taking a qb this draft. they've opened enough holes and had enough holes on OL and front 7 defense, that we should be drafting those positions so we can get the lines familiar with the system. I understand there may be times when the BPA will be taken and i'm fine with that in the early rounds. That being said, where we pick, i wouldn't be surprised if OL is the best player available. But putting a rookie into a new system, with new coach, with insufficient depth doesn't sound like a recipe for success for 2013. and worse off, it will make a 3 year plan even harder.

if they do it that way, i'll be on board to watch how the rebuild goes. if they want to try and build skill positions after decimating the OL and leaving our LB corp in tatters, i feel strongly that they are a 3 win team at best next year and the prognosis for the following two years won't have them breaking .500.

          1. No. Trades. Within. The. Division. No exceptions, ever.
          2. If Bellicheck is willing to let him go, there is a reason. Look at the number of players who have left New England and flopped. Off-hand, I can't think of one that succeeded. Maybe Asante Samuel- that's it. They don't let players go when they still have value.
          3. We only have 6 picks and we have at least 5 major needs- QB, OG, WR, LB, CB. And it's difficult to draft for need late in the draft anyway. We simply can't afford to give up a pick.

My thinking was nix said dont rule out trading for a qb...

and he said there are only 2 qbs that our long term starters. im willing to bet both qbs are gone by 8. so either trade for someone " like " mallett, or trade up.

In order to trade, you have to have something of value.

Player for player trades in the NFL are rare, and even if we found a taker, who would we trade? Our team is bare-bones as it is and any talented player we give up would just create yet another gaping hole on an already thin roster. And we already traded a pick in this draft for TJax which means a) we only have 6 picks to start with, and b) if we trade another one for Mallet, we'll only have 5 picks in this draft because we will already have used two to obtain completely unproven quarterbacks.

And, we'd be giving NE a draft pick, which means giving them the potential to find a player who will torture us twice a season for his entire career.

What part of that makes any sense to you whatsoever?

                  Speculation is a 2nd or 3rd.

And yes, there was a 10 page thread on this 2 weeks ago.

                          2. Tom Brady will be 36 when the season starts. If Mallett is a top 10 franchise QB, what makes you think Bellicheck would be willing to part with him?

What part of Mallett's 4 career attempts (1 completion, 1 INT) makes you think that he could be a top 10 franchise QB?

As OP said, if the Pats are willing to move him, they don't think that he's very good.

If the Bills were to trade for a QB, it would probably be Matt Flynn, not Ryan Mallett.

And I think we have had more than enough QBs named Ryan in Buffalo for the rest of my life.
