    Urlacher and Bears part ways

Urlacher calls the negotiations an ultimatum.

    1yr 2mill.
I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?"
"Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet.
You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times."
    It was all
true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach.
He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can
mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.

Well, he might be able to teach our younger LB's the ropes with a 3-4 D...other than that hes QUITE a bit past his prime. If we could get him on the cheap I think it'd be a decent pickup, but I think hes gonna ask for more than we should give.

He is not woth the money or roster development at LB. ESPN2 is his best chance.

My buddy's a Bears fan and he got an Urlacher jersey back in 2003 or 2004.

It must be nice to buy a player's jersey and have him be on the team for 9 years.

The only way to do that in Buffalo is with a kicker or Chris Kelsay.

Or our long snapper, whatever his name is that makes a career out of pushing a ball through between his legs.

              Wait, that sounds bad.

Signing Urlacher is exactly the "he can sell jerseys/tickets" move Russ would like to make. I was wondering who his Terrell Owens move was going to be, but there weren't the big names in FA this year to do it. I don't think a Greg Jennings had quite the name recognition needed.

and a kicker is the best player on the team and we still dump him!!!!

Urlacher likely won't come to a team who's a bottom feeder when he's on his last leg basically.

Has he ever played in a 3-4? He's always been the MLB in a Cover 2 system. He got his start under Jauron, FFS.

If so, he can start in Buffalo.

This will be the signing. Nix and Marrone will both say that he is a versatile LB who can play in the 4-3/3-4 hybrid d that we have. Morons will buy jerseys, the braindead trust at OBD can say we tried and people will buy tickets.

there is a lot of hate about the notion of signing him, but i remember the same when we let london fletcher go and he is still playing at a high level. the guy played hurt all year last year and still played ok. if he is healthy, he is worth it in my opinion, especially since we missed out on other guys and dont have a lot of options.. i dont care about his age.. i care about his age.. i care about his health. if he is healthy, bring him in. he'd make less than leodis mckelvin for **** sake.
