IMO, what likely helped the Purple Eagles was their being the regular season Atlantic Hockey champs. Plus, they did very well in-conference(probably no less than 3 losses.)

The Eagles game will air on ESPNU.

I played for Brian Cavanaugh's Golden Griffs for a brief part of a year prior to an injury shelving me for good.

For the 1st time in 21 years, I got on the ice last night in gear for a skate and shoot with my youngest son "Samboni".

It was pretty cool.

Yahoo's Puck Daddy blog doesn't think highly of the Griffs. At all.

I quote from them: "This is one of the worst teams to ever make the NCAA tournament. Quinnipiac is no great shakes, but they're going to kick Canisius' head in."

It also notes that they play in the worst conference(Atlantic Hockey)and only got in because they got the automatic bid, barely finishing above .500 in the process. The Griffs lost to a team that went 4-25-7, and they're 1-4-2 against out of conference teams.

If you look in the comments, there are more than a few posters who come to Canisius'(and Atlantic Hockey's)defense.
