Kiss the idea of Geno goodbye...

I've been crossing my fingers that Geno Smith somehow slips to us at #8.

Over the last few weeks there have been a lot of likely smokescreens thrown up (Jacksonville, Philadelphia), but I've always believed the key to Smith falling would be with Oakland. If Carson Palmer agrees to restructure his deal, he's back in a Raider uniform next year. If he doesn't, Palmer likely gets cut and Oakland is left with only Terrell Pryor on the roster.

According to this article, Palmer is "highly unlikely" to redo his deal. Which probably means that Oakland targets Smith. Which means that Buffalo would have to trade up to #1 or #2 to land him.

I'm also of the opinion that Buffalo is drafting a QB at #8, no matter what.
I think Buddy is making his list of 2-3 quarterbacks, and he will take the top guy left on his board.

I agree on both counts. Whether it's Oakland or not doesnt matter it aint going to be Geno. I think EJ at 8 personally.
I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?"
"Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet.
You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times."
    It was all
true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach.
He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can
mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.

you mean we won't get the chance to draft Andre Ware? So heart breaking.

My guess is you've never seen either guy play 1 game but you know they're the same guy. Just for the record which QB will be a star in this draft? I'm sure you know.

If we draft the 3rd QB to come off the board at #8, I have a very bad feeling about how that will turn out.

I like EJ Manuel the most out of all of the QB's.

None of this years QBs are worth a top ten pick.

Id love to see us Draft some mashers for the OL and DL like DJ fluker or Mingo rather than Geno Smith.

My thoughts, exactly. If the Bills take a QB at #8, there is an extremely high probability that they will cripple the franchise for another 4 years. In November, one of the big topics of conversation was how this QB draft class was weak and none of them would have likely been picked in round 1 last year. Part of that discussion was the forecast that we would reach April with at least a couple of them mystically elevated to top 10 worthiness. Just because you pick them in round 1 does not make them round 1 talent. I believe the term is "reaching". . .

Take best available QB in round 2 or 3. If they work out, great. If not, pick a better-risk QB in next year's first round.
Still searching for that offensive rhythm.

Im of the option that if Geno isn't there at 8 we draft the best player on the board we can use help at nearly every position on the field.

There wasn't much of a chance that Geno Smith was going to be there at #8 from the start since he is the consensus #1 rated QB in the draft. If for some reason he was passed over by all of them other teams that would be a huge mark against him to start with.

Since he probably will be gone I would rather take the BPA at an impact position of serious need like a LB. I'd maybe think about Manuel at #8 but unless he looks real good leading up to the draft I wouldn't touch him that high. The sad thing is I don't trust Bumbling Buddy in making that decision. I would be fine with waiting till the 2nd round and grabbing a QB or even moving up if need be.

The best case scenario would be moving down to the middle of the first round or so and taking one but you need a trading partner. There isn't much of a separation from the next few QB's and it mostly depends on the teams. And anybody who thinks that Nassib will be drafted in the Top 10 is smoking crack. Had he not been the starting QB in college for Marrone then there isn't anybody on this board that would probably be saying that.
