All: The new Billszone site with the updated software is scheduled to be turned on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. The company that built it, Dynascale, estimates a FOUR HOUR shut down, from 8pm Pacific, (5pm Eastern) while they get it up and running. Nobody will be able to post in any forum until they are done. Afterwards, you may need to do a web search for the site, as old links will not work, because the site is getting a new IP address. Please be patient. If there are bugs, we will tackle them one at a time. Remember the goal is to be up and running with no glitches by camp. Doing this now assures us of that, because it gives us all summer to get our ducks in a row. Thank you!
There is work to be done and things to be learned. We are going to try to get the old look back - or something close to it. We also know there are bugs. A thread will be started to report bugs and then we can pass those onto the host.
Thank you for all the patience and support with this - hopefully this will greatly reduce the crashes and other site issues we have had lately.
Please use this thread to report any issues you come across

there are some articles about how there was a tweet that lead to a lot of speculation that tampa is asking about miller.
i know it doesn't seem to make sense, but we are 5-6 days away from trade DL, so almost any idea will be thrown out. any prospects in the TB system that would strike our fancy?

Wgr this morning reported the rumoured name being thrown out is Brett Connolly who was the 6th overall pick in 2010. Connolly has 56 points in 65 games with Tampas AHL team the Syracuse Crunch.. It should be noted Tampa Bay has many good prospects and there "farm" system is one of the stronger ones in the NHL so Yzerman wouldnt hesistate to move a prospect or 2 to land a Veteran like Ryan Miller
One one hand, Enroth isn't quite ready to be a starter, and may never be, and there isn't much in the system as far as goalie prospects. So, we are completely up **** creek if we trade Miller.
On the other hand, trading Miller means we're sellers and the FO FINALLY understands that it's time to break it down.

I guess the kid in Rochester is pretty good, and the reason he hasnt been brought up is to continue to get regular playing time, not sit on the bench

If we move Miller, I'd be happy having him and Enroth split the remaining games. Finishing 15 is no different than finishing 9th. Get them the experience.

no there is a BIG difference between finishing 15th or 9th, the difference is a top 3 pick that will have an immediate impact on the team next year or another pick around 10th that will take a few years to be impactful

They haven't won anything *with* Miller, and the FO has no clue how to put a decent team in front of him, so there's no reason to think they really need him anymore.

Jeremy White has been making this point alot lately...
we've been losing with Miller, why not lose with someone that makes significantly less, and use that other 6MM/yr on someone who can put the puck in the net.
how many games has Miller singlehandedly won for us this year?

I listen to NHL Radio on Sirius XM sometimes and they speculate a lot that Miller is unhappy in Buffalo and that's a reason for his inconsistent play.
I can't say for sure if it's true, but it makes sense. Guys like Leino, Myers and Vanek get huge contracts while he takes less money to play with the team, then they consistently fail to put quality in front of him. It's a good point that Miller hasn't singlehandedly won us any games this year, but he also rarely if ever singlehandedly cost us the games. That one ****ty goal he gave up with under a second left in OT is the only one I can think of, and you can argue whether that was his fault because the defender should have just hauled the guy down with no time left.
Think of the last game against TB. He only gave up two goals, and one was on a 5 on 3. Yet, the team only manages to score 1.....
It must be frustrating to play well enough to win far more often than not, and still lose because the rest of the team hangs him out to dry.

thats part of the same point. the league has gone from one in which "elite" goaltenders are what everyone looks for to build a team around, to everyone who plays at this level are all really good, and it doesnt matter if you win 5-4 or 1-0 as long as you win, and its easier to build a winning team around players who put the puck in the net rather than ones who keep it out
