I loved that we drafted him last year and like him a lot as an athletic OT although he isn't the strongest at the position.
But is he a possibility at LG?
Like Justin Pugh who some think may be marginal at LT but could be a option as an athletic G or even Levitre who played LT at Oregon but used his athleticism at LG, Is Sanders an option there?
Pugh is listed as 6' 4" 307
Levitre was 6' 2" 305
Sanders is listed at 6' 6" 318
You might worry about getting good leverage on the DT's with that extra height but other tall OL have been successfull at G like Leonard Davis who is 6' 6" and 350. Carl Nicks is 6' 5" and 349.
"There were a lot of experts that pegged him as one of the top linemen to come off the board. After losing guards Andy Levitre and Chad Rinehart, there is a possibility that Sanders plugs right in at left guard and there will not be a lot of drop off at that position. If that’s the case, the Bills just got a hidden gem in last year’s draft."
"“It hasn’t crossed my mind,” Sanders told Buffalobills.com. ”I’ve been really focused on just getting back out there. I’ve always followed the mentality that the best five players will play and I’ll be happy just to be out there whether I’m tackle or guard, as long as I’m on the field. Wherever the coaches feel it’s best for me to play and wherever I can be the most help to the team I’ll be in that position.”
With all the tackle candidates on the roster and guard a bit thinner in numbers it wouldn’t be surprising if Sanders is lined up inside at times as the new coaching staff searches for viable options there."
